So when I went to drop the future SWMBO off at her apparment, I spotted a VW Scirocco parked on the side of the road with a SCCA autocross number dealy on the side. It's in Dorchester, MA, I think it was black. If it's anyone here, you're nearly within yelling distance of my appartment (i'm in the tall ones). Let me just say HELLLOOOO!!!!

A guy named Tim Thomas from Hingham registered his 87 Rocco for a rallycross event. Maybe it was him.
Tim Thomas is the goalie for the Boston Bruins!!! There is no way there is another Tim Thomas!! He doesn't seem to be the old school V-Dub type to me though. More of a pick up guy I think.
Hey Rufledt you will have to come down to the South Shore sometime if this damn snow ever stops,and melts so I can check out your R3,as I really want one. You are welcome to take my REPU,and or SA RX-7 for a spin as well.
you got a deal! And what is with this snow anyway? When I moved here people were saying "Oh yeaaahhh, it never snows here as much as the midwest, and it doesn't get near as cold either." That 2nd one is true so far, but why did I arrive just in time for snowpocalypse 2011? and possible more tomorrow? I guess it wouldn't be so bad if people here didn't freak out so much, though.
Also, last time I was at quirk mazda in quincy for an oil change, they had a red R3 (doens't come in blue anymore). The one salesperson I talked to didn't seem to know any more about it than my 1 year old nephew, and they won't let anyone test drive it (mine should be identical, though, other than the color, so you can still test drive one), so along with it being a very difficult sell, they may still have it come summer. I mean, who in their right mind would buy a car so expensive with manual lights, no satnav, low mileage, non-power non heated seats, and relatively low power compared to like priced sports cars? I certainly wasn't going to (because of the low power, not the other things-I wanted as few luxury options as possible- and yes, i know i'm crazy for calling automatic lights a luxury item. I'm still thrilled my car doesn't have them), until i decided to test drive one for the fun of it, and couldn't get it out of my head. the RX8 GT i test drove was fine and all, but heated seats and a sunroof? that crap just isn't for me. The R3 is awesome. Awesome.
