The Trooper got nailed hard from behind this AM, hard enough to put a really good bow in the Class III hitch receiver and bent the crap out of the bumpers front and rear. The car that hit it was a little Chevy, I think it was a Cobalt and he ain't goin' nowhere in that car. He was doing probably 40 when he hit the brakes and probably 30 when he actually hit and the Trooper was at a complete stop. During the mayhem, it got shoved into the back of a Grand Am in front of me.
This has been one farked up year.
Dude, Jens...
You need a new year to start really farking soon.

Classic whiplash scenario. Ambulance chasers in three... two...
Sorry about the bad luck, J-man. Glad you're okay.
^^^^
Ambulance Chasing aside, if you are not feeling it today, I bet you will feel it tommorrow.
Best of luck to you. My girlfriend was hit in a similar situation as you describe, but not as hard. Her back is still effed up. But on the subject of building them tough, the '96 Dodge Ram that hit her looked a lot worse than the '90 325i that she was driving!
damn... that was a nice trooper.
Hope you are OK.

For a number of years I drove a 1 ton Chevy van. In downtown Hialeah I saw one exactly like mine that had been rear ended hard. Scratched the paint on his bumper. The '80s Grand Prix that hit him was caved in up almost to the firewall. I like strong, body on frame, trucks.
I think I have an extra OEM Isuzu Hitch NOS in storage if your frame is straight. Leftover from when I dabbled myself with your vintage trooper. I'll look for it if your truck is savable.
Sorry to hear that Jensenman.
Glad it wasn't any worse. I hope the guy's insurance is valid, Chuck just got rear ended by a dud with no insurance about a month ago.
Dude, you have seriously pissed off lady luck. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/unhappy-18.png)
Glad you're OK. Open invite to drive the Abomination in Myrtle Beach this weekend if you can't get the Jensen up there. If you need a hand swapping a hitch or whatever, give me a shout.
The Mayan prophecy is true!
Yeah, I'm beginning to think the Mayan prophecy is aimed square at me recently.
The day after the Trooper got clobbered, I got an Email from one of my brothers, my dad's in the hospital about 150 miles away. Due to circumstance FAR beyond my control (and that I really can't talk about at this time), I can't leave right now. So no AX for me this weekend. Fortunately, the word last night was that he is much improved.
The kid and I were both in the car when it got hit, so far we both seem all right. Oh, other than both of us have the flu. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/whatthe-18.png)
oldopelguy, I'm going to need that hitch if it's a Class III. Once I browbeat the insurance company out of some $, I'll get in touch with you.

Here's hoping your Dad and your luck both improve. I have been really lucky not to have been involved in any real accidents in 30 years, and that's driving in the Miami area. My luck is bound to change. Good luck to you and your attorney with the insurance company. I assume the other driver was cited.
Yes definately hope your luck improves.
I used to drive a 3/4 ton 4x4 truck with an 8inch steel tube bumper welded directly to the frame rails in the rear. Got rear ended by an 18yr old driving a new RSX in 02. Totaled the RSX, the giant green beast (former forestry truck) with the big black tube on the rear drove away the to nearest car wash to powerwash the paint transfer off, did bend the safety chain loops a bit. I miss that truck.
Good luck on fixing the Trooper.
