Last night as I lay cozily ensconced in my bed I had the strangest dream. GRM challenge camp, it was held at something like an abandoned military base and during the summer everyone arrived with their heaps in tow (as well as sons and daughters) and spent a week doing communal wrenching and learning.
In my dream it seemed very cool and was billed as a place to hone old skills and learn new ones. I awoke wanting to take my son, has anyone ever heard of automotive summer camp?

Haven't heard of one but it sounds like a damn fine idea!
Oooh, and with that last post I became an Ultradork!! Is there a secret handshake?

it's so secret, we can't tell you about it
When I was between jobs at one point I thought it would be fun to go visit other GRMr's and work on their projects with/for them. Kinda like a week sleepaway camp but with wrenches and grease. If I was single I would so open my FL home to guests to come stay near the beach, help motivate me to wrench/organize, etc. SWMBO would not go for that though as she is not as social as I am.
If only I knew
I've not heard of a camp per se. I have heard of workshops held here in MI by a well known Brit car mechanic. Basically you spend a weekend or so learning how to rebuild a transmission or do rust repair. But I think these are pretty marque specific.
I like your idea much better!
So in your vision is this a large open area filled with cars and canopies and tents and the like?

In reply to paranoid_android74:
Well, in my dream it was an old abandoned military base so we were using hangers and motor pools. And the roads were private property so hooning was encouraged.
So who has a big barn and room for RV parking or close by hotel?
I think I have lived this dream before out at The Compound on the Curve, The Ohio Australian Embassy.
You should get there if you can. Others have been there too. Lessons include just about any kind of automotive oddity you can imagine including preliminary historic camper trailer renovation.

Get a ticket for your wife and her friend for a weekend get away retreat at a Spa somewhere. Women loves this sort of thing. Problem solved.
Since it was a dream, were the instructors also members of the Hawaiian Tropic Swimsuit team?
I actually thinks that's a very good idea.
