You people aren't even remotely qualified to discuss this whole burger thing unless you are ready to acknowledge the mighty ONION as the premier burger topping.

And yes, Five Guys is a pretty good burger.

I've never ventured into a White Castle. I don't even know if there are any in the area anymore.

I like a slice of onion. Not a piece of E36 M3 piece of "beef" cooked on a bed of onion flecks.

My burger of choice:

Patty.
Provolone cheese.
Avocado.
Onion.
Bacon.
Smear of mayo on BOTTOM bun.

I need nothing else.

Most every burger I've had out can't compare to the burgers I make at home. I prefer to have mine cooked over a fire and I have to have a little pink in the middle to really enjoy them.

The ones that have come close to home-style have been from local eateries that flame grill them and let you order your burger however done you want it to be.

In reply to Brett_Murphy:

No one is going to say White Castle is better than home made but if you need hamburgers at 4am in a sketchy neighborhood the Castle is the only place to go.

I like 5 guys but they are expensive. Even getting the small burgers and splitting a fries it's hard for The Wife and I to get out for less than $20.

As somebody with intestinal problems.. White Castle is a death sentence... as most fast food is. It is fast in and faster out.

5 guys is decent, but not really worth the price

I heart 5 Guys because they'll put jalapenos on my burger. Lemme see Krystal/White Castle do THAT.

Well, you can get it in the cheese:

You used to be able to get fried jalalpenos on the slider itself, but I don't think they do that anymore.

Steal and Shake is entirely different, and for the better.

No, White Castle is different. Steak and Shake is like a diner, basically, White Castle is unlike any other fast food place (other than Krystal apparently). The burgers are steamed, not grilled.

I do not get the love for Steak and Shake though. You're not the first person I've heard go crazy over it--don't get me wrong, it is good, but the fries are horrible and nothing there is unique enough that I'll go nuts over it.

I'd say it's better under all conditions by the simple fact that their patties aren't grey.

I like White Castle, but my taste has changed over the years, I can't eat just the burgers. I like to get bacon cheeseburgers and Chicken Breast with cheese. Their shakes are pretty descent IMO.

I could talk all day about what I like at what fast food burger joint.

I think White Castle is like Waffle House. Either you love it, hate it, or never had it.

Hmmm I will have to try white castle sometime. My wife really likes steak and shake I think just bc we don't have them. I think it's meh, not bad, not great.

Try telway in Madison heights.... Joey

This, Telway is about 3x farther away than the nearest Whitecastle, and I usually go to Telway.

So- you don't like it when weird E36 M3 is on your pizza, but it's ok to put half a guacamole on your burger?

There's a White Castle just four blocks from my house. I don't eat them all that often but it's nice to have them handy when the crave hits me.
