E10 is nothing new, I feel like a lot of the E10 in old stuff problems are really E10 dissolving the gunk holding it together problems, or modern fuel in general problems e.g. vaporlock and going stale faster from changed volatility standards. I know a guy with a well maintained 76 Buick that as far as we can tell has never had the Rochester 2 barrel carb apart, runs great on random 87 octane pump gas after we insulated the fuel line in the engine bay.
