Made me some bulk sausage this evening. One pack for in the morning, the rest for the freezer.

I'm hungry now. It's a good thing you didn't have bacon in that picture, or i'd start cooking something right now.
Also, since somebody will now hotlink some bacon, I'm not gonna look at this thread again until the morning.
I hate you.
I had cinnamon raisin english muffins with PB & J because that was all that was left. It was just fine until I clicked on this. Now all I can think of is my own inadequate breakfasting.
Epic breakfast win. Fail on the grits, though, yuck.
Last weekend I had scrambled eggs (eggs given to me by my boss, he has chickens), bacon, homemade wheat bread toast with homemade sour cherry jam, and Pillsbury biscuits with sausage gravy.
Homemade sausage gives that a run for it's money, though.
Talk about a sausage fest! That looks real nice. Do you use a meat grinder or cut it by hand? I have an old meat grinder and it makes the best ground meat for burgers, they have good texture like the meat you used.
I've done pot stickers before, basically you put tons of garlic, ginger, lemon grass, scallions, and soy sauce into ground pork then let it sit overnight. Makes a hell of a tasty pot sticker/dumpling.
I hate you too.
No breakfast for me today.....unless you count the leftover egg nest I made for the youngin....

Harbor Freight meat grinder FTW. The sausage is made out of a Boston butt run through the grinder once and seasoned to taste. Boston butts have a 15-20% fat content which is just about right for sausage. Was going to do fried eggs and cream of wheat but we were out of both and I was too lazy to go to the store in the rain.
To Twin-Cam: Grits is a southern thing. I like them just about any way they can be cooked.
That looks good. I just made up some pancakes for breakfast, very nice on a cold* day.
*I have to go find some shrink wrap for my window. It is freezing in here.

and no self-respecting Southerner uses instant grits!

Quoted for truth. If they haven't cooked for at least 45 minutes they aren't grits.
Pour some grits into a bowl and mixed them with cooked bits of sausage. Mix well, and pour into a bread pan. Let this sit in the fridge overnight covered. Slice it like bread, fry it with butter. YUM!
I grew up in NJ and I like grits.
We've got a few pounds of nice homemade sausage in the freezer. Just had some this morning in fact. Good stuff.
Shrimps and grits are yummy. Also, grits with a biscuit on the side for breakfast is yummy as well. Sausage ain't bad either..

Because she hates you.
The electric one. Off the top of my head it was about $50. It's ground probably 20 pounds of meat so far and seems to work fine. It replaced one of the Northern manual ones that didn't work very well. The clearances on the auger were so big the meat would slide down the sides of it.

Apparently.

Yessiree. But you gotta dice some jalapenos and throw 'em in.
lizard wrote:Toyman01 wrote: Harbor Freight meat grinder FTW.The manually operated one or the electric? Inquiring minds want to know... Really, the manually operated ones are cheaper than the adapter for the wifes new megamixer, but I'm lazy so I want to know which one to try.
Surely someone on this forum has built a meat grinder with a turbo 4-cylinder?
