I believe J-nik had an article not too long ago on Wrangler fires and allegedly trying to keep them quiet.
Then this happens to by BIL (with his 2 daughters in the back seat) just 2 days ago.
My sister said:
Chad had just picked up the girls from his Granny's house and was driving home. A truck with a trailer full of scrap metal was in front of him and a big piece of steel flew off and went under the jeep, either puncturing the gas tank or severing the gas line. Chad pulled over because he smelled gas and then saw some flames pop up on the passenger's side. He ran back over to the driver's side and barely got the girls out before the whole thing went up in flames. Very scary! They are all OK, thank goodness! God was definitely watching over them! Apparently the fiberglass is very flammable, so when the fiberglass top caught on fire, it progressed very quickly. We are very fortunate no one was hurt! It could have been really bad!

Wow, good that he noticed the flame and got them out. Glad they're all okay.
That jk wasn't Just Kidding!

wow.. that's some scary stuff there
Glad they're okay. Is the carcass for sale?
Wow. Crazy story. Good to hear everyone got out ok.
Looks like a ZAV build in the future
Woody - carcass was left with the insurance company. The Jeep's replacement looks a little different...
Useful when towing this...
Duke, no need for a ZAV, his other project would be a better start.
You can see the firestarter in the background there.

Holy crap! Glad everyone is okay. Scary stuff.
My buddy was severely burnt when his jeep caught fire in his garage taking most the house with it. Can't remember exactly how it started.
1.) Holy crap! And glad everyone was ok!!!
2.) Think this will cause the price on these to drop enough for most of us here to pick one up cheap and drop a fuel cell in?
