If that's accurate, that he just yelled expletives at the guy and didn't touch him, then it is ironic that Gordon Ramsay has become such a celebrity doing that sort of thing for a living.
Ramsay was well-known for shoving people in his kitchen, too. Then again, a kitchen is a warzone.
Clarkson shouldn't have been such a prima donna, but if it was more of a case of a tantrum than fisticuffs, then they should just let him back.

That's the key point. If he threw a punch, then he's out on his ass. Noone can have that liability around, especially not the super up tight BBC. If he yelled at someone... this has all been a glorious waste of time. Send him to sensitivity training and get on with it.
Im not on twitter but google told me that the dude who got punched promptly twated stating how its not a big deal and E36 M3 happens. Besides the fact he didnt get the police involved I think it should just be dropped and chalked up as clarkson getting old and irritable about not having hot sausages
I heard that the producer that was supposedly punched was not the one to report him. I greatly dislike the amount of speculation surrounding this latest TG debacle. I like TG, a lot actually but I wish we could just know the facts already. I think the BBC sees him as a liability but they know how much of an asset he is too. It seems like a tough situation for both parties.
I really hope the next episode comes to fruition where they test the 918 and the McLaren
And the Ferrari the Ferrari.

That's because Clarkson himself reported it to the BBC hierarchy.....

Clarkson, and co-presenters May and Richard Hammond, are due to renegotiate their contracts next month.
That little phrase means everything. This is simply them taking him down a notch and trying to re-take the driver's seat in negotiations.
If they all jump ship collectively and go to Sky with a similar show, they'd have a HUGE last laugh and end up costing the BBC a fortune. They have most of the leverage of they stick together in their negotiations.
I guess Velocity could get US rights to it--I'd hope.

another media beat up. Yes, clarkson is prone to be having like a twat, its a big part of how he's gotten to where he is. But people are seriously getting a bit precious these days.
He's obviously had a bad day and flown off the handle a bit and made a bit of twat of himself.
And while it probably wasn't necessary, it was avoidable if the producer involved had have done his damn job. Top gears a big show with a big budget and making sure your money makers are comfortable and looked after is just par for the course.
You know the guys are going to be tired and hungry after a day of filming, make sure they are well fed and have somewhere to unwind. Simple enough really.
Compare his behaviour to that of a Hollywood celeb and he looks like a Bob Costas cat. The BBC is just being to sensibly british here.
Give him a kick up the behind, garnish his wages for the episode and make him do a public event for the fans and move on
According to The Telegraph, Clarkson DID punch the guy.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/top-gear/11472112/Jeremy-Clarkson-punched-producer-and-called-him-lazy-Irish.html
'Jeremy Clarkson punched his Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon in the face following a 40-minute rant in which he swore at him and referred to him as a “lazy Irish”, eyewitnesses have claimed.'
"I don't just play a privileged ,aristocratic upper class English boar with a sense of entitlement on TV, I am one in real life too!"

Good article, or at least the most informative yet. I think that Clarkson's "Dinosaur" post is a strong hint at his fate, and that he has accepted it. Now will the other 2 renew or jump ship?
With the importance of the chemistry between the hosts, I think it would be hard to just bring in one replacement. On the other hand, if they need 3 new hosts, you need the chemistry, and time to build up a history with each other.
Maybe it's the meds, but I think they should continue the show with James, Hammond and the stig. But, they should pretend Clarkson's still hosting too. Every time they ask him something, or he has a line to add, just show mating scenes from BBC nature docs.
"What do you think, Jezza?"
[2 baboons berkeleying]
etc...

so because of his capability to make a profit they should just move on...... par for the course... maybe par should be changed then... justification...
the man should be incarcerated for assault
No... I don't like the man... I think all he is is a bully. Its the only example I know of where the buffoon is the star of a enthusiasts tv program. Oh... wait... there is NASCAR and Darrell Waltrip
I got it... all he gets to do from now on is drive an Austin Princess... This week... the Porsche 918, the new McLaren, and Jeremy in an Austin Princess... next week we have some new stars driving everyday cars... and Jeremy in an Austin Princess. If Jeremy complains... he gets a typical BiTurbo... the man needs utter public humiliation... either that or jail time
What about the shows phenomenal cinematography?
As epic as the three cast members are, there’s a lot more to the show’s success than just them...all of those functions will need to move with them to maintain the continuity.

Incarcerated for assault???
Shirley, your not serious...
Its an entirely different way of doing TV over there...all together.
Either you guys know more about what happened than anyone else on the planet, or you're arguing about speculations.

No he didn't. That's just more speculation based on a bible verse interpretation of Clarkson's column.

I didn't say all should be forgotton and clarkson get of Scott free. That would be rediculous.
It would also be ridiculous to incarcerate someone when no charges have been laid simply due to moral outrage.
Its a fairly minor infraction in the grand scheme of things and should be dealt with proportionately
2 blokes having a dust up the pub wouldn't attract near the level of outrage that people are expressing here. A lot of the outrage is simply because of peoples dislike of the guy...

And the other one claiming he resigned from it was back in 1999 of all times.
