Too bad, but enough was enough. Should never have let him stay to the point that he believed he was bigger than the show.
What he did was inexcusable. The other incidents of things like racial slurs etc can almost be seen as trying to stay in the public eye via controversy. But punching someone because the hotel quit serving hot food? Inexcusable, period.
Chris Evans? Are they referring to the American actor? That wouldn't make sense replacing Clarkson with him.
In reply to Cone_Junkie:
No, there's a British Chris Evans.

He was once the SIARPC. He's also a gearhead. He's the one who let James May drive his 250 California.
Hmm... A couple of things.
May and Hammond said they wouldn't do the show without Jeremy. If they are planning on going ahead with this Evans guy, has that changed?
I really don't think Jeremy will stay unemployed for long.

I'm not arguing that. It was, but he was also the show. It will not be the same. They might as well sack Hammond and May too, because they all had gotten along together too well.

From what's come out about him already, I don't think it'll be long before he crushes himself under his own ego as well.

I like Harris, I like his perspective on driving and cars. I do not think he would be a good host for Top Gear, it would dilute both brands.
Just three guys in race suits and helmets standing there looking at a car, then cut to wild smoky drifting, then back to the studio to show three guys in helmets standing there looking at a car.

an hour of just powerslides and hot laps? I'd watch that, but I think the news and the SIARPC would be pretty dull.

You know damn well you'd watch that.
Great, more disimination of rumor from "highly placed sources"
Until it is stated by the BBC, it isn't real. C'mon guys I expect better from you all.
Honestly if everyone had just shut up about this, especially Clarkson, it likely could have been sorted out much more quickly.

Bwahaha that sounds like a fun show! I hope they at least do an all-Stig special like this.
In fact, now would be a great time to do it, and they could still to the P1/918/LaFerrari episode! Win win win!

You can't pay for this kind of publicity. Chances are this was sorted out for realsies about a day after Clarkson did whatever he did. The rest has been wild speculation and free commercials from everyone getting all huffy about the possibility of Jezza being sacked. E36 M3, he's been page one here for how many weeks now?
