Jimmy Buffett

After an undisclosed Illness, Jimmy Buffett just passed away at age 76.

He's now eating cheeseburgers in paradise. RIP. 

I just closed on a house on Cheeseburger Drive in Margaritaville. So sad...

Jimmy was a salt-in-the-wound reminder that I made a wrong turn back in the 80's and wound up a semi-respectable member of society instead of pursuing my dream of becoming a drunken sailboat bum.  

"Yes, I am a pirate..."    So long, Jimmy.

He had some fun, catchy songs and it seems like he really enjoyed the ride. RIP.

What a way to head out for the Labor Day weekend.

I'll be drinking a margarita in his memory today, he made it to the end of summer. I have nothing but respect for people who seek to keep things simple and enjoy life. 

RIP, Mr. Marvin Gardens. Many got annoyed with his stuff, but I thought he was a tremendous songwriter and always a ton of fun. 

He appeared to have a great deal of fun, which is probably a pretty good ride.

I enjoy his stuff.

More than a few beers will be spilled in his honor this Labor Day weekend at The Village of Put-In-Bay on South Bass Island, in Lake Erie, Ohio.  

Self proclaimed to be The Key West of the North.  

I think he represented a lifestyle even more than the music itself.  RIP

We saw him several times when he'd come through New England, always right around now.  He and his band always put on a great show, pre-gaming watching the true "Parrotheads" in the parking lot was always a great take too.

He had a great big ex Coast Guard amphibious flying boat with radial engines at one point, lots of boats, sailboats, etc. so he lived the life for sure.  Fair winds Jimmy.

My first ever concert was my parents taking me to see him just a hair over 48 years ago.  A few years later, when my parents sold everything they had, bought a sailboat and we tried living in the Bahamas, I can remember "Great Peanut Butter Conspiracy " being my favorite song, and singing it non-stop that summer.  Unfortunately, things were at least three times more expensive there, and we had to motor everywhere, as the wind was quite calm, so the money ran out quickly.  But it was a great summer!

I saw him years ago at Universal Hollywood  , great show , 

listened to his cassette tape  dozens of times while driving long distances and they always gave me a smile ,

The building was far better than I expected from a production builder. It's really well done.

I loved his ballads.  "Son of a son", "He went to Paris", "The Captain and the Kid", etc.

Rumor on the coast today was it was skin cancer, which in a weird way would sort of play true.  

One could celebrate his life with margaritas...then, why don't we get drunk and screw?

Undiagnosed illness has now been confirmed as skin cancer.   Wear your sun screen kiddos.   I had already been planning a trip to Key West next week, guess I'll be joined by many others.

I've always loved his music, books and style.  My favorite song of his to sing at karaoke is He Went to Paris (followed by Volcano), I'll do Pirate Looks at 40 at my classic rock/blues band practice tomorrow.  A true legend.

The cheeseburger in paradise song has been running a loop in my head all day.  Come Monday too.

I just read that he was diagnosed with skin cancer 4 years ago, but he died of lymphoma.
