It's great to see in todays divisive environment people coming out and saying 'Didn't agree with his politics, but he was a decent person'. Hard to think of many people in politics since him that gets that respect from both sides of the isle.

He and Rosiland lived in Gov't housing Rotterdam, NY. 1951-53? His Dad passed and he went back to Georgia. My wife was the Housing Manager there & Watervliet for years. Still a plaque out there.
I say this with the utmost respect as a non-believer, too: His faith was also an example to others. It certainly guided every action in his life in great ways, but he never used his platform to shove it down the nation's throat. He just lived it. In doing so, he was the best example of how to live a life of service I've seen in my lifetime.
It really does say something about the man that nobody has talked about failings during his term in office. How can I make the world, or my neighborhood, a better place? Seems like an admirable life goal, even if the route not always correct.
