Apps I like:
GasBuddy - finds local gas stations and lists prices. Great for finding diesel.
Clinometer - best level app on the market IMO
DropBox - easiest way to transfer files to and from your computer

You can't? I don't understand why not, the S2 is still a very capable handset. I have it on my Rezound.
In reply to Tom_Spangler:
I dunno, either. Haven't researched it. Just looked it up in Google Play and got "Your device isn't compatible with this version."
But it's not like other versions came up in my search for Chrome...
ColorNote is darn usefull for jotting notes. I like it better than gotMilk.
Cool Reader is the best book reader I've found for the phone.
CraigsNotiifca for tracking craigslist things. It's cost me lots of money.
Go SMS is the nicest text messaging app I've found.
JuiceDefender for keeping the battery alive
Swiss Army Knife is a usefull bunch of weird apps, like a level and flashlight and such.
Zedge for stupid fun sounds and such.
what version of android is the handset running?... I think thats the limitation issue.. mine runs gingerbread and isn't compatable...

+1 on the Clinometer.
Ulysseespeed is a great travel GPS speedometer, compass, etc, and it overlays on google maps and Navigator.
Stickman base jumper will keep you occupied for hours.
Retro camera is a neat app. It takes photos with formatting that makes it look like a Polaroid, or a Brownie box, or a pinhole camera, etc.
Netflix rocks if you have an account.
Waze is a really awesome free navigation app that integrates a TON of features like speed traps, attractions, live updates on traffic, etc.
100 floors is SO addictive.
Catch notes. you'll thank me.
If you have a limited data plan (I only get 2 gigs a month) Dataswitch is a good free app to actually turn off your data use when youre not actually using it (turning off background data is a key to this as well).
I also have the indeed job search app...its pretty good, and wont spam you into the dark ages.
Retro Clock is a nice, simple, flip style clock widget that doesnt try to update weather every 2 minutes.
I'm looking for a nice mechanical clock, one that's skeletonized so you can see the gears and everything move would be my holy grail. Can not seem to find one anywhere that's any good...

It just installed on my S2 without issues.
for Chrome... Like I said before... check what version of android you have... if you are still running gingerbread It's not compatible... do a system update and install the up to date version and you should be good to go...
You have to be on wifi for a system update. My Droid X would never update unless it was on wifi and was charged. It only took me about 6 months to figure that out LOL...
menu>settings>about phones>system updates.
or could be menu>settings>ATT software update (mine is an ATT phone duh)>check for updates
No one's mentioned Torque? That plus $20 OBDII interface = gobs of custimizable gauges and dashboards, plus G-force and acceleration info, etc.

Cool wallpapers? Check:
Stole that from Pinterest, a good app to check out. I also tend to stay away from live wallpapers for the reasons mentioned above but a quick search online brought me: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wabbittdevs.tourbillon01&hl=en I'm not sure if it's compatible with your device or not but you can try it out for fifteen minutes and still get a refund if you don't like it. Be sure to spend some time on androidforums.com and XDAdevelopers.com, you'll find lots of good information/apps/ideas there. Same thing for specific devs (developers) like Scotts Roms and Gummy, etc. That's where I found a bunch of the widgets I like, such as the clock widget on my screen shot.
You'll need to log in to post.
