I need a jump box. AZ has  a Duralast 800 amp unit for $85.

This ample or do I need more?

TIA

The Gold standard, is the Clore JNC660

My dad had several of the small, glove box Li-Ion units, and some worked better than others, but always seemed to just not be enough.

I asked for one for Christmas, and he laughed at why I would want a big, bulky unit.

Jokes on him - it's the most grabbed, most used one in the shop.  Clore has a good warranty too.

The 660 has had plenty of Umph for everything i've used it on, V8's, tractors, etc.  They make bigger ones if you are trying to jump diesels, but for 99% of the stuff, the 660 is where it's at

Bump for the evening.

I'd like to buy local at FLAPS.

800, 1000 amps. What amps you use/ recommend?

What are you starting?  A Miata or a Cummins Diesel?  I think on general principal I'd just buy the biggest one I could afford.

Unless it's over 6.0 liters, 800 should be fine.

this is my favorite though. I haven't done anything bigger than 5.4, but it's great.

I have also had surprisingly good results from cheap little ones, but I wouldn't buy one of those unless you have a engine under 2.2.

2016 Regal 2L 4 cyl turbo. Battery replaced last year but sat for over two weeks in freezing temps.

No tractors etc., I need to battery charge it.

This is so hard to really give one answer.  It's so freakishly different if it's just almost starting, but needs a little help, versus a totally dead battery.  It can be a little annoying to carry a monster jump box that could start a cold Cummins from nothing just to cover your butt for a Civic that's just a wee bit low.

Mine is 600 (I think) and hasn't let me down for a 5.3L LS and a 4.6L Intech.

In reply to fasted58 :

Do you have lights and such? If so that Noco will do it. If battery is totally flat you need to remove it and charge, or use mondo charge box (easier to just carry out a different battery).

if the starter at least engages, and cheap jump pack should work.
