Jury duty

as is most things on here that we argue about .... it's mostly just opinions... they're like shiny happy people.... everyone has one... and in this case mine is ..... I don't go to church in flip-flops / shorts / and a T shirt ( no matter what is says on it ) nor would I go to court dressed that way ... beit as a defendant / plaintiff / or juror .... just me and the way I was raised

Define uncomfortible clothing? If you find khakis, a polo or buttoned shirt, and decent shoes uncomfortible, I hate to think about what you think comfortible is. I never said you had to wear a tie and a jacket.. I said "semi-nice" as in business casual.

Why are a pair of clean khaki pants and a buttoned shirt "uncomfortable"? They're all cotton (or should be) and don't need to be starched. Nobody's asking you to wear white tie to the ball, here, just some decent clothes.

Odds are there as conformable, if not more so than the less nice alternatives.

By the way, I'm not saying everyone has to look like the man or check their individuality at the door, either. I still have my chops, and I wore some Docs--wingtip Doc Martens, though. Personally, I just feel a little respect is in order, and in our society a collar says that. That's all. Party on.

I have it in a month, and plan on wearing jeans and a polo. If I was the one on trial, or a plaintiff, then yes, suit would be worn.

Since I am unemployed, I actually welcome the chance, I make 9 bucks a day and get per diem. If it goes more than 3 days, I get 25 bucks and per diem.

Just talked to my friend who has been on the grand jury for some time now. He is almost done. Nevertheless, he told me only one person wears a button up shirt, but its Hawaiian. Its not regular court, but its opinion, like wbjones said. I would dress up, but I don't really care about anyone else there.

It's unfortunate that a lot of people seem to enjoy looking like a slob wherever they go.

I don't care how much of an underachiever you want to be, take your goddamn hat off inside! It's disrespectful, moreso in a restaurant.

I'm 33 btw.

Also, as for the jury duty notice. It doesn't come by registered mail, they have no proof you ever got it.

In a nearby town a judge didnt have enough respondants to seat a jury. He sent the bailifs to the local Wal Mart. They handed out jury sumons to people leaving the store. Effective imediatly. As in go there now.

I wear a nice pair of slacks and a button up shirt when I have had a summons. I will even wear a coat and tie if its in the winter. I have been summoned about 5 times and never been seated for a jury. My theory is the people on the other side of the rail may have very good memories. Hell, to get where they are they must. I never know when I may run into one of them again and I want to have made a good first impression.

if for no other reason, out of a jury pool of 100 +/- there's always a bunch of nice looking ladies to chat up... why look like a bum
