I see this thread is about to take a turn for the worse anyways.

No it doesn't. Just because YOU (and I mean YOU as in the general you) were a E36 M3head when you were young does not apply to the rest of us.

Guy was a wannabe gangbanger. I've called the cops before on suspicious people in the neighbourhood. I've gone up to them and talked to them. I've parked my car behind random cars with a person or two parked in them near the park at 1am in the morning with the lights off and not running.

Point is, douchey mcdoucherson had no right, ever, NEVER EVER WHATSOEVER to TOUCH a hair on Zimmerman's head. All of the arguments are strawmen, what if arguments that have no point of discussion.

Fact: Treyvon started beating the piss out of Zimmerman Fact: Zimmerman feared for his life Fact: Zimmerman used deadly force via stand your ground

Those are the only facts here. Everything else is irrelevant.

NOW, does this absolve Zimmerman of RESPONSIBILITY? No. The guy is probably a powertripping wannabe cop. Doesn't matter though, that is his right.

From another thread on another forum:

They put cut outs side by side of the two in court. Martin was a pretty big guy. Taller than Zim. I'm sure if it was pure fisticuffs Zim would have lost. And until the gun got involved he was losing as the evidence seems to imply.

People seem to be throwing around a lot of "facts" here.

Somehow I doubt anyone on here was in the jury to see what was presented, or involved in the investigation, or a witness, or in any way in a position to know the actual facts of the case.

How do you know it's a fact that Martin was just "walking home"?

How do you know it was Zimmerman who confronted Martin?

As previously noted, those assertions are more conjecture. Irrefutable evidence was needed to prove the state's case beyond a reasonable doubt. Failure to present such evidence was but one of many committed by the prosecution.

To be fair, it's pretty obvious GZ instigated the confrontation, given the 911 operator told him to quit following, etc.

Until any of you guys have been harassed over and over by over zealous people (neighborhood watch, wannabe cops, mall security, police et.al.) for just walking about (home, work, school, shopping, at putt putt, etc) you'll never understand. You get tired of it and some decide to fight back(some do this correctly and some don't). That is not conjecture.

Regarding TM being a wannabe gangbanger, that is his choice just as GZ being a wannabe cop. If GZ was dumb enough to follow/escalate and gets his ass whooped, well that's his mistake and he'll pay the price. We know what price TM paid for deciding to take matters into his own hands.

If I'm mistaken, please accept my apology, but that seems strange that is ok for GZ to follow/escalate a situation where a kid who was walking home/around and when he gets his ass whooped, it is ok to shoot him dead because GZ couldn't fight. That is . . . strange

EDIT: Don't mistake . . . I called the verdict long time ago based on the few reports I've been reading regarding the prosecutor's "great" job . . .

So, according to quite a few of you on here, I can now go see what the hell all these people walking up and down my street are doing, while I'm packing heat. I mean, I've never seen them before, they HAVE to be up to something bad, right? And it's my job to make sure they aren't. I just hope one of them tries something... [/sarcasm]

How do some of you know Zimmerman didn't already have his gun out when he confronted Martin?

You are mistaken, greatly. GZ is allowed to say whatever the hell he wants. In this case, from the FACTS presented, that is what he did.

I didn't realize there was a law against following somebody... harassment, yes, there is a law against that, but that is usually a more than one time occurrence.

Also, (this is not fact, but opinion), that looks a "teenie" bit worse than an ass whooping. Descriptions in court are more like "curb stomping". So if we want to get into conjecture and hearsay, that sure goes along well to making your case.

Well, you've got an internet connection, and according to you, close to a dozen cars that are worth more than everything I own, including the stuff that's financed, so I'd start there.

None of us have walked a mile in either of these dudes' shoes, but I'm very familiar with the flip side of the coin too. My bestest bud ran a trailer park that was 95% Mexican/5% white for over ten years. It was absolutely his job to ask "What the berkeley are you doing here?" when someone who had no business in the park was there.

In that situation, car full of black kids or tatt'd up cholos means either they're there to steal E36 M3 or sell/buy drugs. White panel vans sans-ladders and paint stains (according to ICE) warranted a phone call, as the mexican gangs were smuggling kids in for child prostitution.

I don't know the specifics. Just playing devil's advocate. I'm sure all of us wish the whole thing had gone down differently.

Why didn't Zimmerman have a 'right' to question trayvon?

Even if he walked up to Trayvon calling him out by his Twitter handle. Trayvon still doesn't have a right to smash his face.

My bad lol . . . I missed what you were talking about.

The references I alluded to were all in the past . . .

Here's some cliff notes:

  • Walking home from Burger King, a friend and I were held in pouring rain bescause campus police though we robbed Hardee's.
  • Off duty deputy pulls his badge and threatens to arrest a group of us playing putt putt at the local fun park. His reason, we were to loud and his parents didn't like it. Even though the kids with them were louder than us.
  • Campus police constantly stopping me on my after work skate or ride. I would get off at 10pm and ride same loop off exercise, but I was stopped because I was suspicious looking (Their words)
  • Dudes asking me why I was in their restaurant and hitting on their waitress/barista
  • Neighborhood watch decided I had too much activity going on late at a place I rented and called the police. Turns out having peeps over for a study session after work was a crime to them -Neighborhood watch didn't like me working on cars and always reported my stuff as non operable to ordinace officer, never reported the other neighbors that had vehicles on bricks for months.

In most of those, I had no choice or face getting arrested for some dumb E36 M3 while I was getting my BA at USC. The others, I decided to either move or leave to avoid confrontation. But honestly, why berk with me when I'm just trying to live. After awhile, that E36 M3 gets tired. I handled it the best way I could without causing trouble or ran like hell. But, I shouldn't have to do that everytime. . . I should be able to skate, walk, eat, work where I want without having to worry about the commencement of asshattery

Regarding people still going through it, I have a few fam and mentees that are experiencing the same E36 M3 . . .

Yes. He was at his Fathers house. What was he doing at the time? Breaking into a house? Robbing someone? That's right, he was walking back from the store, what a crime.

No. He was VISITING his father's fiance's house. That does not mean he "lived" there. He was walking between two houses, in the dark, in the rain when Zimmerman called the cops.
