You are pissing and moaning about a $400 car??? Sounds like you just had a bad day. I did a water pump on my wife's 96 Maxima and had no problem. Yes it did take a while, but I got great info off the interwebs, like I do about any auto repair I am about to begin. I also only use Dealer parts unless I absolutely cannot afford it (like a power streering hose for $400). My wife's car was a good one and the daughter of a friend we sold it to is still driving it.
Uhh, I think he's complaining about how hard it was to work on, not the price. Paying more would not have made it easier to work on. It's not even his car.
And now I may have to take back what I said about the Maxima.
A customer had a 95 pearl white with lowering springs, 300Z wheels and it was a manual. The thing just looked so right. And now that I've done one I guess the wp isn't the worst job I've had to do on a car.
Oh btw like has been said not my car I did it as a favor for a kid that works for me. I was just bitching because of not having any access to replace such a failure prone part.

it's not a really failure prone part. at least not on the 4th gen. I've had several only 1 possibly had a bad water pump.
The pearl white ones look great with the 97-99 5 spoke wheel. I've had 2 of those, 1 was lowered and tinted lights (not the head lights, but the rest were)
