Every once in a while, you just need some good news. Our family dog, Buddy left us about a year ago. We knew we wanted another Schnauzer, but every non-puppy mill breeder had a waiting list. We finally made it to the top of the list. Barring any unforeseen events (I used to raise dogs, so I know the risks of getting attached too early), this little guy will be joining our family sometime in August.
Just for fun, and because you all are full of both good and spectacularly bad ideas, I'm looking for name suggestions. Since he's a Schnauzer, bonus points for anything of German origin. Double bonus points for anything with mechanical/automotive overtones OR funny meaning in German. Also, remember, this is something we have to be able to yell to call the dog, so 48 letter German words are out unless they have an easy "short version".
BTW - Already like "Schwartz", but Spaceballs may have ruined that for us.
Tinte. Pronounced "tinta." It means "ink" in German, and bonus points because you can give him the full name of Rin Tin Tinte.

From this list Kallenhard, Bergwerk, and Wippermann sound pretty sweet
I suppose Puppy MacPupperson is out of the question.
How about Otto?

My wife likes Otto. It's definitely in the running.
How about Gunther or Wolfgang?
Would Hans or Franz be out?
Schnitzel
Maybe Wurst. That way if he pees on the floor you can say, "dog, you're the wurst."
I'm no help. My dog is named Kitty.
Katze
Hund
Of course, he is a bit young to have any type of "character" yet.
Family story time. My father used to have a hunting dog named Babe. One night Babe got out of the house and my father was wandering the neighborhood in the middle of the calling for her.
"Here Babe! Come on Babe! Where are you Babe!"
Be careful what you name the dog...
Lrrr.
If you want to be formal Lrrr from the Planet Omicron Persiei 8
Diogi........more Italian sounding than German.
Zoso - because he's a black dog.
Schuhen (shoo-hen) "shoes" - because he's always underfoot.
Peeve. Then you can introduce it as your pet peeve.
Stormy or Norm(an), as in "Stormin" Norman Schwarzekopf.
In reply to Beer Baron :
Norm is my dad's name. Not sure if he'd be flattered or offended.
Bear, because honestly, that's the first thing I thought when I saw him.
Knuks(sounds like Nukes). It's skunk spelled backwards since he's black with a white stripe. Yes, I know, I'm weird.
Welpin.....German for puppy or with an accent "Velpin".....my latest is named "BLITZ" and for good reason....
Ausgräber
aka Gabby
It means Digger in German. If he is anything like our Schauzer mix, Bella aka Bad Bella aka Bee Bee. He will dig a lot and talk a lot.
Good for you trying for something unique. We had five dogs named Bella in the office at the same time recently.
Sadie, Buddy, Max, Maggie....
