I picked up a $100 gem. It's an 86 Yamaha Moto-4. It came with a free parts 4 wheeler, although all I had to do was clean the carb and it started on the first pull.
So, I now have a spare 250cc engine (about 16hp) with a 5 speed "automatic" transmission with reverse. What devious things should I do with it? Too wimpy for a shifter cart, nor do I have anywhere to run a cart, nor do I really have the money to buy or build a cart. Any performance ideas other than the obvious? Shave the head and run Ethanol? Try to see if a 350cc jug will bolt on? Tie it to a rope and use it as an anchor?
I do have a generator with no power head and I thought I could use it to run that, but unfortunately the motor and trans are all one case. I suppose I could just leave it in one gear and put a governor on it, but that's not exciting - nor is it a lightweight idea. It would make my generator un-portable.

Put it in a free riding lawn mower frame and terrorize the neighborhood?
I just popped in to concede that Evan was correct, but I now also see that Stanger_missile is correct. Margaritas can be mixed in normal blenders. Like a farmer would do it.
Aren't golf carts already about 15hp? Might make a fun shifter cart from a golf cart frame.
That tractor looks wicked.
OMG.... ethanol + wee turbo + megasquirt.
I wonder how long the piston and connecting rod will last?
This^ + find a ysr to mount it to
Put the Moto4 together and enjoy. My folks still have an '86 model on the farm. It's still pretty handy.
I can’t decide what to recommend:
5 speed snowblower?
gas powered multi speed drill press?
3 wheeled bicycle of death?
put it in the frame from a B&S powered mini bike?
a gas powered cooler?
wait a minute...
gas powered radio flyer wagon on a go kart chassis

I did. I got two for the price of one, PLUS a spare 250 motor with a cracked case. But I only have one butt. I could sell the parts unit, but it's too tempting. It isn't complete enough to be another full ATV, but it has an axle, a motor, a trans, a front suspension, steering. That seems like fun hooning is just a welder away.
Honestly I support Woody's idea. Like a shifter cart but with bigger tires for dirt antics.
Looks like fun. I don't really have a use for a dirt buggy though. I guess I could sell it once it's done and try to make some cash.
Is this my sign that I need to build a kart and get into some local competition?
