Is there a good forum for S197's that isn't populated by people talking about neon lighting and chrome rimz? I'd like to pick one up in a few years and learn some more about them, but most Mustang forums make my sinus openings flare.

Yellowbullet.com forum called Trash or Be Trashed is about the wildest I have seen as far as car related sites, as well as Gixxer.com for bikes, lol. Everything from cheating wives/husbands to anything goes porn and gore pictures. Not to mention the fighting that goes on there. Its like a bar fight, dont want to get involved but its sure fun to watch.
HSVracing.com is a pretty good forum with some drama but tame compared to yellowbullet. Its nice to come here and enjoy the normalcy though to.

The problem is, you're always going to find some chuckleheads with American Ricer mods or total car n00b questions on S197 forums. Every. Single. One. It's the nature of the beast.
S197Forum.com is probably the least infested, though, and you WILL be flamed for asking stupid questions or not using search (Heaven forbid your topic ends up on their "Technical Thread of The Day" post...). I lurk it sometimes but never post since most of my questions are answered already and my search-/Google-fu is strong (plus I don't want to be flamed).

I use the S197 section of The Mustang Source, as it separates out the cosemetic from the performance and from the repair tech. Though to be honest, there's not much need for repair tech on newer car forums, so you're gonna get more cosmetic and upgrade questions/threads than you might find on an older car forum. I haven't needed any repair tech on my S197, so I've only looked at upgrade mods like suspension, wheels, exhaust, intake and the like. And considering as a street car I don't need to go faster, really, most of my mods are cosmetic, other than the suspension and exhaust/CAI.
I've not seen anyting on neaon lighting on there, though. But custom wheels? Yeah, there's a thread for that. And I'm in it, as I put some uncommon 20" wheels on mine.
As for the "Stang" appellation, I've heard Mustangs called that since Mustangs have been around back in the '60s, and by knowledgeable people. It's just a nickname.
