It was an okay start to something new. I enjoyed it. I expect it will take a few shows for the producers to learn how to get the best out the presenters. I plan to watch a few more episodes to see how it progresses.

I enjoyed the Top Gun instructor's comments. "There's a policy here. $10 fine for every time you quote the movie." (Three shots later)"It looks like it is going to be an expensive day."

Finally got to watch it tonight at my friend's. I'd give it a C to C-, not terrible but keeping in mind it's the first episode of a much-hyped show. If Evans can dial it down about 4 notches, that would be great. LeBlanc was better than expected, and I liked the new rallycross course (hope they clean it well for the regular laps).

I think it has some potential, but I really think they need 3 presenters. One of the fun aspects of the original is when two of them team up against the other one. Maybe a bit contrived, but still fun.

It might be fun for them to have some temp presenters on for the third and wait until one clicks with the other two.

I haven't gotten around to watching it yet, but somebody told me James May assembling a lawn mower was more entertaining. From what I've heard I'd be inclined to agree.

Yeah, I was hoping Harris was going to have a bigger role. Ditto for Sabine. I guess they'll be the resident hotshoes for the times when an extra driver/presenter is needed.

It's good that it seems to be a bit more focused on cars rather than shennanigans, but we'll see. The biggest bummer is that none of the presenters are naturally funny. Clarkson and co. had great chemistry and were naturally funny.

I'll probably watch it more than I watch TGUSA (of which I only watch the interesting descriptions on my DVR).

In reply to BrokenYugo:

So, I watched that. And I was mildly entertained. But can you imagine a more tormentingly boring job than being a camera man videoing James May putting an old lawn mower together for more than ten hours?

But that took awhile to come together. Go back to season 2 when May first joined the other two. They were pretty dry episodes back then. Maybe after a few more, things will come together.
