I could get back to my projects....

Before getting back to my projects, see "ej22 stalling thoughts" thread, I performed some maintenance on the appliance. A 2012 honda crv. Heater core flush tsb, trans fluid, and spark plugs. Last night, about 40 miles after these things were done,I stopped and filled up the tank. About a mile after that it starts to shudder, then hell breaks loose with the dash warning lights. Never saw that many lights before. Next is low power. Limp back to the gfs house, about 4 miles. Per the manual, let it cool 10 minutes and retry, no change. Go to bed, and as expected same issue this morning. Take the gfs car to my house, pick up tools, code reader, and original plugs.

Scan of codes and I get p0303, cylinder 3 miss fire. Pull the plug, it looks OK. Swap 2 and 3 coils, same issue. Put old plug in 3 and it's better but still not right. No more codes, but it's still missing, only drove it about 1/2 mile, about a third longer than it took to toss the code last time .

Going to put in the rest of the original plugs and see what happens. Fingers crossed.

What's the difference between the original plugs and the ones you put in it?

In reply to smokindav:

Don't think so, it starts fine.

Headed out to replace the rest of the plugs now.

Um, bad gas? Ran fine for 40 miles then 1 mile after fill up starts acting up?

My first thought was bad gas since it happened so quickly after filling up. After scanning and see the cylinder 3 misfire I pretty much ruled it out. After replacing the plug on cylinder 3 in the issue greatly decreased in severity I figured it was the plugs. After replacing the last three plugs just now and going for a quick blast the issue is resolved. The original plugs from the factory are what came out of the car with a hundred thousand miles on them. They were iridium. The new plugs were Bosch and they were also iridium. My guess is at least two of the four bosch plugs went bad in that 40 miles. Strange but that seems to be the case as the problem is totally resolved after a 2-mile blast with the original plugs just now. I am glad it's over with but pissed that I'm going to have to replace the plugs again. But at least it doesn't have to be towed to the dealer for further Diagnostics.

PS. Fingers crossed that the issue doesn't show up again in another 40 miles with the original plugs in the car.

PS on the PS. The other difference is I had my odb2 scanner plugged into the odb2 port and not my right track Insurance tracker. It's now plugged in again let's see if the problem returns

You put Bosch plugs in a Japanese car. Don't do that. Ever. Really.

I won't be putting bosch plugs in anything anymore...

The way I see it, is if the plugs crossreference then their should not be an issue. In this case there was. Not sure it's a cross reference issue or a manufacture issue. Either way, a bad cross or 50% failure is not acceptable.

Took a 50+ mile trip today with the original plugs back in the car, no issues.

Question, does any one know if bosch plugs are manufactured by Skill like their power tools now are, mfd by a third party, or if they (bosch) held onto the apt parts division or more specifically the plug mfg.

Just wondering if they are like the 100s of other once great companies that sold out and are now just a brand name being stamped on what ever crap is being produced.

I can not stress this enough what Streetwiseguy said. I would only use NGK or what ever is in there should be replaced in kind. Considering they are 100k parts it is not really worth getting cheep plugs any more.
