I know of three shops looking in Mid and Metro Michigan. Technicians and service writers alike.
I think the big issue involve Broken Arrow, OK being where it is.
thankyou and sorry for complaining im just frustrated. i hate not working. but really shouldnt get into too much ill find my opinion being devalued here too,
When I was fresh out of tech school in 2004, nobody would hire me. I went back to an old job I had before college and I was making $12 an hour. When I realized about a year later that I needed a job with benefits I went to many stealerships and all but two wouldn't hire me. The two that both said they would hire me, wanted to start me as a lube jockey at $7.50 an hour. I said no thanks and got a job at a bad collision repair shop. Things I saw happen there made me never want to buy a used car ever again. I had enough after a year.
I now work for a cable company and do car stuff as my hobby. I do some work on the side for friends and family.
see im a master technician and ase certified parts pro and service writer. all my experienmce is in the auto field and its hard to get people to understand what carries over. so im stuck in a no job zone. ill apply to like 10 and 12 dollar and hour jobs and get told they wont hire me cause they think im just gonna leave in like a month cause thats so much less than i used to earn.
yes i have considered relocation. and the kids are 2 and 4 months. but we are 60k upside down on the house because we bought it right before the market crashed, and my spouses family is here and no way she is leaving her family. im estranged from mine.

Well thats probably the mentality of most senior techs anyway. I don't care anymore, I'm not going to get back into the auto repair business, unless it's back on classic cars like I used to do.
I hope you find something soon though, having no job is frustrating.
Is this titled as whining or WINNING?
It could be worse. You could be going insane, publicly.

probably is. i just got really frustrated with one and kinda wrote the rest off. after i had a guy who just graduated from uti from toyotas program car comes in for diag. with o2 heater circuit code. and he askes me well what do i do now? it frustrated me.
While it's obvious that you want to work with cars, you are also qualified to be a technition in other fields. At least how I see it, anyway.
Any non-medical and non auto options available?
the problem ive run into is people dont see automotive skills as transferring. obviously i could do home hvac. and manage small business's but well ya. oh well. ill keep selling my avon and just go back to school for cosmetology.
Since you're a technical person search your area for trade apprenticeships... electrician, pipefitter, stationary engineer, hvac etc. As long as you have the mechanical aptitude as you said the tests should be no problem for you.
lol ya if im gonna learn anything new im better off going back to school. dont wanna learn a new technical field.
Most apprenticeship tests are only general mechanical/ technical aptitude... righty tighty lefty loosey type, plus math and science... but know your math well. If you already have experience or education in their field, more better. It's only a screening to see if you are 'capable' of learning a technical field. If you get in the apprenticeship you're paid to learn 40 hrs./ wk. on the job w/ journeymen in the field, plus paid to go to apprentice classes after work hours. After completing your classes and (usually) 4 years OJT you will qualify for a journeyman card... plus more money. It's a win win. Why pay for your own schooling if you're smart enough to get in the apprenticeship? Typical journeyman wages are $20-30 / hour, sometimes more depending on the area.
because i dont want to be in a tech field if it means having to learn something new. and 20 to 30 an hour lol.... i got paid 31.50 a flat hour as a tech and was in the 90 to 110 hour a week avg zone.

Definitely going to have a hard time in OK replacing a job where you were making $11-14k per month. You made in two months what most people make ALL YEAR in this part of the country. (Unless I misunderstood your post on your pay)
You also come off as a bit entitled to your good salary. "......I don't want to have to learn something new......." Well, sometimes that's what you have to do to get a job. I'm under 30 and have had three jobs in two different industries.
My wife is a hair stylist and makes a VERY good living for herself. Blows my income out of the water (and I do alright), but it's still not going to come close to that type of salary.
im not looking to make that type of money. im looking to enjoy what i do. my partner makes almost enough money for us to live just fine. if i found something that paid me 10 dollars an hour and i enjoyed id be happy. ive made my money. like i said im more frustrated at not being able to find one. and old employers black balling me.
