One of my kids has inherited my penchant for weird cars, and I'm doing my best to stoke it.
We went yesterday to a friend's garage (and also up the road a spell to pick parts). The kiddo got to drive my friend's '85 MR2 and his Datsun roadster.
We went around the way too, to pick up some parts for the kiddo's Datsun roadster project ('69 1600), a flat dash, some seat bases, a bunch of chrome, a grille, some lights, and a cowl cover, none of which we had on hand.
Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your perspective), I think I just dibs'd the MR2, as my friend is likely going to sell it after the Williams JDM Route 66 show at the beginning of October.
The kid seems happy about it though, and maybe that's enough. Certainly, driving an actual roadster and picking parts helped to stoke the fire on getting the '69 underway again.
