I agree that we are not free. However, the terrorists have not won, our citizens gave up freedom to our goverment.

You don't deserve bullE36 M3 like that just because you say what you believe.I think you took the bait.... because I smelled fish HARD on that one. Trout maybe? No... not quite right.... Carp? No... Flounder. Definately Flounder.
There was no flounder in my post.
But I did have some excellent, excellent trout for lunch today.

Right, so in a way he's whining.... Right? Meh? Eh? Ehhh?

I'm Mr. Rogers and I like that.
I would comment on this, but I don't want the FBI showing up at my door to have my mental health checked for 30 days without my consent.
I just tried to vote up poopshovel's comment and when I clicked, it did nothing. Thinking my browser might be bonkers or something, I voted up someone else's response. Much to my surprise, it worked.
I smell a conspiracy here. The only comments that can be voted up are those that adhere to a "popular" ideal? Well, phooey!

Wait - who, Stephen Fry or the guy in the article?
Being silent over ridiculous laws, policies or agencies amounts to tacit agreement. I don't have much doubt that funny T-shirt turned into a big pile of unintended consequences, but good on him for putting his experience out there for the public to know.
"you have the right to free speech - as long as you're not dumb enough to actually try it."

and by doing that, our own people have allowed the terrorists to win.....terrorism only works if you can create fear. that happened, E36 M3 got passed, and now we're here.
Other instances showing it isn't new, Depression happened, socialism occurred(Social Security)......Pearl Harbor happened, Asian Americans(Even those born here) were sent to "Internment Camps" by force.....Civil War happened, effectively ended State's rights versus the Federal Government.......Prohibition happened, causing organized crime to happen, led to the beginning of firearms restrictions and the birth of the agency we didn't need(FBI).
I could continue, but to most people, a history of continuing abuses of both parties against our constitution and bill of rights would be very boring........so instead, I like lamp

Actually one of the topics I am most interested in covering with my children when they get up a few grades is the incidental linking of historical events and unintended consequences. Used to really like a show called Connections that linked different historical events in unusual ways.

Do you not get the feeling that that was his intent from the get go?
I support people in their right to free speech and to protest. The time and place he chose to do it is suspect to me.
I think he might have expected a few laughs, maybe a little irritation from screeners, but didn't expect the reaction he received by the gate/flight crew/fellow passengers and subsequent treatment by LEOs. Plenty of people don't quite get irony, sarcasm or parody.
Personally I think an airport is the perfect place for that T-shirt since everyone has shared that experience. I kinda suspect his biggest problem is how he spells his name (another not Brian) and an abundance of melanin.

I figured that she would be the only librarian in the country who would know for certain if it could be done, if asked by a student. Alas, I doubt that I could get away with such a dangerous stunt today.
I'm fairly certain that there are only two people in the world who know the answer to that question.
You'll have to go to the library.
I agree with this guy being an attention whore. Sounds like he wanted his blog to get some attention and the fact that he wrote a 3000 word essay about the ordeal makes it even more obvious of his intentions of wearing this t-shirt. I like wearing t-shirts that show what touristy restaurants I've been too. Like the hogs breath from key west in lime green.
I don't care if he's that guy at work that's always stealing my lunch, he doesn't deserve to have his constitutional rights violated.
Now, whether that is indeed the case here is up for debate. Sounds like the TSA, Feds, whoever let the guy through after their standard "brown person" rubdown. It was the captain of a private company aircraft that stopped his boarding in the end, which in this case is probably constitutional. He was wearing an inflammatory shirt on purpose to cause a reaction. He didn't exactly get kicked off the plane for wearing a turban, burka, or the like.
This reminds me of the time I was wearing this shirt at the post office and was interrogated by the clerk behind the counter. But hey, she didn't refuse to ship my parcel!
Your right to "free speech" stops at the edge of my property. The pilot, an employee of the airline, kicked Paki Mcsmartass off the plane. I'm sure in 20 years we'll all have the "right" to free air travel. Until then, my plane, my berkeleying rules. Have fun smelling curry farts in your rental Versa, dumb berkeley. At least you made your "statement."
Edit: berkeleying seriously??? Someone is SERIOUSLY pulling the "ZOMG THE TERRORISTS WON!" because some smartass punk got booted from a flight? Maybe I should put that on a shirt. Jesus christ, it's not like they took him to berkeleying Gitmo.

Someone is not "Down with Brown".
Perhaps some sensitivity training is in order.

According to a previously linked-to article, this guy apparently also used his twitter-fu to score a sweet colostomy from his insurance co. So I doubt he will be smelling farts of any kind in the Versa.

It amuses me how often you are wrong but at least amusingly so.

The terrorists won. Our beloved government came to us in our hour of need like super-ninja-jesus with executive powers and made us safe again. Now, anytime we want those civil liberties back - we get to be the terrorists! How ironic is that.
Burp.
