And every kid with a dad into cars should have at least one cool car in the driveway, that is where the good memories come from.
My earliest memory is standing the drivers seat of an Austin Healey barely being able to peer over the steering wheel.

Another thing I'm concerned about is having to hear how I'm a selfish, bad parent for racing, or for owning any type of sports car. Stuff I've actually heard, along with the same crap directed at people without car hobbies but any hobby.
Yeah...I had to hear this from my ex (and still do) for the past 10 years.
Let me say this...there's a lot to be gained from being an emotionally healthy and fulfilled individual.
My kids will now be able to have a healthy relation ship with ME...the real me. The one that works on cars and takes them to car shows and lets them drive/ride in fields and such.
Be true to yourself and the kids will appreciate it (I hope).
Having children changes you in ways that you aren't capable of understanding until it happens. That said...you're still you.

I would venture a guess and say that many people on this board are into this hobby because of their dad's. One of my earliest memories was my dad walking me through an oil change on our Subaru GL wagon. My first word was "Mazda", and I owe it all to my dad. So, what's stopping us from doing the same for our own younglings? My son is only 4 months old, and the last thing we did together before I left for Iraq 2 months ago was change the oil together on the E30. Admittedly, he slept in his bouncy-chair most of the time, but when we were done I strapped him into his Recaro Baby Seat and went for a drive, just the two of us. He laughed and giggled the whole way. That is something I will never forget, and it is his introduction to these memories as well.

I never understood reading an ad for a hobby car that contained the words "Just had a baby. No time for the car". Really?
I have two kids and I've always had at least one fun car in the garage. I don't suggest taking away time from your kids just involve them in what you do.
I'm also amazed at the number of people who tell me that they don't have time for a hobby and yet they can tell me the last 3 winners of American Idol, Survivor, etc.

Hah, that is the funniest/truest thing I've heard in a week.
