I was away for a week and my mail box is full, full of junk. I'm associated with another installation so I get all the "Hey, look who's retiring" or "Golf League" emails for people I don't know or things I have no interest in. Because my box is full, I can't receive the information I need.
Is there a way to filter specific words or phrases in the title?
Use small words and be specific with the instructions, computers and I don't really get along.....
Thanx, Dan

If you are using Outlook you can create rules that take e-mails from specific people or have certail words in the subject line and move them to another folder or delete them automatically. If you are using Outlook I will walk you through it.
I mark everything as spam until it doesn't come in anymore. Next thing to do is open them and look for the unsubscribe link. Those two usually work pretty good for me.

Any good email program will have a spam filter built in. You teach it what spam looks like and it learns and filters it out for you.

E.C., I've got Microsoft Outlook. I assume it's Tools, then Rules; but I don't want to berkely it up. Pm me if that's easier.
Talk slowly, use small words and flap your hands a lot.
Then tell Quasi I'm not an engineer.

OK. Open Outlook and choose tools>Rules & Alerts. When the box opens up click on 'New Rule'. There's a whole list of stuff there, but I find it easiest to start from a blank rule. At the bottom of my list there is a section that says 'Start from a blank rule' and under that heading you want to choose 'Check messages as they arrive' and click 'Next'.
Here you can choose what you want your rule to do. If you want all mail from a specific e-mail address to be moved or deleted check the box next to 'from people or distribution list'. When you check that box then you see it pop up in the area under the list labeled 'Step 2'. Here you click on the words 'people or distribution list' to choose the e-mail addresses from your contacts or enter them manually. you can enter as many names as you wisha nd they will all recieve the same treatment, which you will choose in the next step. Enter all of the e-mail addresses you want this rule to apply to and click 'OK' and then click 'Next'.
Now you have a list of actions you can apply when e-mails from the people you chose come into your inbox. You can choose to move the e-mail to a specific folder or delete it, as well as a lot of other thigs. Let's say you wanted to move it to a folder, check the box next to 'move it to a specified folder' and you see 'move it to a specified folder' pop up at the bottom of the list. Click on the word 'specified' there to specify which folder you want these e-mails moved to. If any of the folders in the list have a plus sign next to them you can click on that to expand the list and see the folders that are inside that folder. Click on a folder once to highlight it and click 'OK' and then click 'Next'.
Now you have a list of exceptions that you could apply to this rule if you want one. Let's say you don't want this rule to apply if it was marked as important or if the subject contained specific words. you would check the box next to the exception you want to add and then when the item pops up at the bottom click it again to enter the specific words. Click 'OK' and then click 'Next'.
Now you have the option of naming your rule and applying it to all of the messages that are currently in your inbox. Click 'Finish' and you're done!
