Is anybody here going to the Pirelli Cup Challenge in Laguna Seca in October? I plan to go but this is my first time at Laguna Seca. Are there hotels close by but not in Monterey because Monterey hotels are insanely priced? Can anyone give me the in and outs of visiting Laguna Seca?
Thanks

I stayed in a hotel in Marina that was decent and cheap, Motel 6 as I recall, gave anme SCCA member discount I think, that is pretty close and not in Monterey.
Stay in Marina, that will usually save you a few bucks, get you closer to the track and you still only a few minutes from downtown Monterey. We usually spend the day at he track and then head to Carmel or downtown for some good dinner.
Like any track, plan on lots of walking to see the course, but it's worth it. There isn't much shade, except for the corkscrew, but that kinda works out pretty well.
I've never been to Laguna Seca--so you are free to watch the race from the corkscrew?
Thanks for the tip on Marina guys. Is anybody actually going?
The corkscrew is a great place to watch the race. It is general admin there, just the hillsides next to the track under oak trees. We usually walk around the track earlier on, then head up to the corkscrew for some afternoon shade and cold drinks.
