Every time I go out on track -- cell phones have no place in a race car. :)

Porsche has a track app for phones.

Oh, and I turn it off and leave it downstairs at bedtime.  It stays that way until I'm about to leave the house in the morning.

I get griped at regularly for being slow to respond to texts or answer calls. It's because I'm not a fan of having a phone in my pocket so as soon as I get to work I toss it on my desk, and then rarely sit at my desk or when I get home toss it on the counter. I pretty much only stare at it if I'm looking something up or having a text exchange with someone.

It's a powerful tool that I love having but I know too many people that are slaves to it, so I actively try to minimize its use outside of using it as a tool.

I do occasionally post on GRM on it though

I almost always have my phone right next to me. But I WFH, so the farthest it might be is on the charger, but I put on the charger at night when I go to bed so it's always at 100% in the morning.

As far as being slow to respond to texts/calls.........I'm not a stock broker or the President. If I don't feel like talking to someone, I just don't respond.

I do exactly the same.
Today is one of those days at work where I've had no calls.
But I've discovered that the Rock auto listings for DBW throttle bodies show the connector, list bore diameter,  inlet bore and connection sizes.

I check it too much, though I don't think I'm anywhere near the deep end of the chart, and tend to put it away during social activities.

I can't do the "turn it off at night" thing, though. It's never really come up, but I'd be so horrified if friends/family had an emergency and couldn't get ahold of me. I have a "do not disturb" set up so only a select few people (or someone retrying the phone immediately) will get through.

Mine is on hand pretty much 24/7. It rings fairly regularly. 23 calls yesterday and 9 so far today. That doesn't count the calls that come in on the office line. It allows me to get away from the office and still be able to take calls and check email, so I guess it's an overall win.

I will thoroughly enjoy the disposal ceremony that happens when I retire. I'm going to either see how far it will skip like a rock or how high I can launch it with explosives.

Our five year old granddaughter is taking dance now. She said to PW, don't bring Opa, he's boring. He'll just sit there on his phone. She's not wrong, but that's a get out of jail free card as far as I'm concerned.

Man, I wish I could do that. I end up with employees working at odd hours doing emergency calls so I need to stay connected in case they run into an issue. Luckily it doesn't ring after 10 pm more than once or twice a year.

I find it amusing and sad to see a family out to dinner and every one of them has their nose buried in it while they wait for food.

*channeling my inner Larry David*

I don't need to hear the people at the next table when I'm out to eat. It should be like the Japanese tea ceremony, you only make noise to signal you're done stuffing your face.
