God do I hate it.  Coming from 2007 to 2019 versions and it is shockingly how much they have made it suck.

For starters you start to "save as" and then cancel as you wanted to make a quick change and it said ok and then closes the document. All work done is gone.

If you are trying to save a file and it has the same name as a folder in the file that you are saving to it opens the folder and does not save your work.  If you are not paying attention carefully you will think that the work is saved and you then back out and close things and you loose everything.

The "alt" followed by key strokes to get things done fast was fantastic.  It hugely increased productivity.  Instead you have to navigate through a huge pile of crap with your mouse to do stuff.  This kills productivity completely.

Making PDF's use to be done with 4 consecutive key strokes now you HAVE to use a mouse. Did I mention how crappy the navigation pan is adn the selection process is that you HAVE to navigate with the mouse?

Why are they taking functions that enhance productivity out of there software.  Ok so you have to memorize key stroke combinations and that may be tough for some users.  I get that people may be not as smart as they use to be or maybe they are dumbing down there software to the lowest possible level.

So infuriating.  If you have 20 documents that you need to turn in to PDF's it use to be simple.

Have you tried Libre Office? I swore off MSO years ago.

I also find Word (and Excel) slow to open--really slow.

If I have an idea and need to write it down asap, I just go to Mac Notes.

All the ALT+ shortcuts still work. and if you hold ALT down with a menu up, the +characters for each thing show up.

Mouse is helpful, not required.

Save As is because the system autosaves now. That's a double-edged sword and a "gotcha" for people who would open, edit, Save as a new doc. Now you need top open, Save As, then make your edits.

I haven't encountered the other saving issues that bit you, but definitely recommend getting Windows & office to the latest updates available.

You'll need to log in to post.
