I am wondering if wife doesn't know and Jimmy picked up a side business based on Ambien.
Just tell him the cars honking at 10:00 PM are waking up your kid and kids are hard enough to get to go to sleep on time. Or something like that.

Something to that effect. Prescription drugs are big biz now.
When I moved in, one of the neighbors said the guy next door was selling drugs. Pretty similar setup. Either car shows up, people go in, come out 5-10 min. later. Or car pulls up, chick runs out, climbs in car, couple of mins later runs in house. The neighbor that told me about said he told the guy basically that he knew what was up, and didn't want that in the 'hood. For awhile afterwards, car would show up, chick would run out and get in, car would leave, come back in a few minutes and drop her off.
Honestly from my experience (just trust me on it), what you are seeing is exactly what it seems.

If you feel better I agree with you 90% of the time but I find your use of extraneous "u"s somewhat off putting
I seriously doubt it's pot. It was always SOP, when I was younger and didn't have a job I cared about losing, to come in, hang out, "test" the product so to speak than leave 60-90 minutes later.
Not quite as obvious.
By going Walter Whyte, I just meant to take charge of the situation, go over there and tell him he is dealing on your turf. Then blow his house up.
tuna55 wrote: or is that just the Minnesota Nice way of dealing with these kinds of things?
When I bought my house here in Minneapolis back in the early 1980s it turned out there was a crack dealer in the apartment across the alley. It was the exact same deal - all night every night cars would pull in, honk their horn, then pull out a minute later.
I got involved with the neighborhood association and I got on a first name basis with the precinct cops. We kept track of what was going on and kept the police informed, and they eventually got them cleaned out of there. It was a lot of work but it paid off, the neighborhood has been pretty nice ever since.

Netflix doesn't have season 5, so I had to stream it off Amazon to get my fix.
Buy a P Code Cown Vic with pie tin hubcaps. Add a few attenas, put a manniquin in the front seat, and turn on the in light just enough to make out a shadow but not that its fake. Park it backwards in your driveway facing out right by the sidewalk.

I'm not there yet. But good to know amazon has it.

So your answer could be interpreted as "shotgun".
i would just ask him flat out, whats the dealeo??? and tell you are not comfortable with that, whatever it is, i have been through this crap and had to move just to get away from them, i think had i been honest it would have worked out better....if not next time he goes away go over turn on all his external water faucets take the handles off and jb weld the shafts open or just google "fix my neighbor" there is some weird stuff out there......good luck.

Yeah dude, I'm trying. Called, no phone; knocked, he's not home but wifey will send him right over... sometime.

Best idea yet!

I don't get this macho attitude.
IF the guy really is dealing drugs and is known to have guns in the house, what makes you think he wouldn't be afraid to up the confrontation level?
I liked the earlier idea about just mentioning, hey tell your friends or whomever to lay off honking and being loud late at night and continue to watch and stay in touch with the police.

It's not macho, it's neighbor. Most of my neighbors are armed, and that's cool with me. Even so, I can talk about it with him without being confrontational. I tend to stray far away from the "I don't like the height of his grass so I'm telling the HOA". I'd rather walk over and give the guy a chance. So I did, but he wasn't home. I'll try again tonight.
oh..
unless you meant messing with his hose or whatever - yeah, I'm not doing that, that's not macho, it's cowardly.

Except that at this point you are essentially forced to assume that he is dealing drugs. Under that assumption, it is NOT a stretch to think that there is a gang or a drug cartel with that have sunk their hooks in him with the threat of harming or killing his family, and he could possibly do things that are not... neighborly.

I suppose there does exist a chance that "Jimmy, are those guys in the car hoking all night the same guys who knocked your mailbox over?" might get me killed. This macaroni salad might be laced with Anthrax, too, but I'm pretty sure it'll be OK.
I choose to see the world where folks can help each other out on the side of the road and neighbors can discuss issues, even with one another, without immediately assuming everyone is going to kill them.
I'll eventually get ahold of Jimmy and figure it out. If he starts lying, or refuses to fix it, then yeah, it might be time to call, but I'm trying to do the right thing first.
I'll never forget the look I got when I stopped to help a guy in a parking lot in Flint, Mi when I told him he could borrow my wrenches and just to return them in the back of the truck. Yup, I got them back.

Well said. I wish more people had that view of the world.

I've known (personally) and known of a number of drug dealers and very few of them have any connection to a gang or have any hooks in them. They're usually just poor people that decide doing something dumb is a better idea than getting a job at McDonald's. The gang connection thing is mostly people dealing is really bad neighborhoods hanging out on the street.
It's like if we decided to sell car parts out of our house and people assumed that higher level car parts dealers had their hooks in us. It's just not true. They've gotten prescriptions or found a source for some pot and are re-selling it a little at a time. If they were selling enough to be a gang interest it would be way worse than a few cars every now and then honking.
Edit: oh yeah, tuna55, that is a great outlook. I also try to talk to people first. It's just the neighborly thing to do.
