To buy or to build?

they seem simple enough to build, but i'd imagine buying quality parts would lead to a price only slightly less than buying a quality gauge. What do yinz think? and please recommend a good pre-made tool, or a good place to buy quality parts!

thanks!

What's a leak down tester?

a leak-down tester is a tool used to apply compressed air to a cylinder and measure how much leakage is present.

after looking around elsewhere, this guy seemed to answer what parts are needed.

Make your own. HF compression/leakdown testers are a big fail as are all of the other cheap ones that I have used. I had three junk ones in a row before I gave up and made my own that has been going strong for several years.
