We are interested in adding the 3rd row folding seat option for our 2006 Volvo wagon. Unfortunately, it didn't come with one. It would be used sparingly, on the rare occasion we need seating for 6 or 7. I know it can be retrofitted, but nothing more. Does anyone have any insight?

I'd think buying a kit from Volvo would be pricey, so you need to find the right wrecking yard. If you can find a donor car, I'd think you will be able to do it without a great deal of difficulty. Traditionally, Volvo doesn't need you to drill a bunch of holes for that kind of stuff, but you will need all the little clips and brackets that go into the holes that are already there. Grab everything that touches anything to do with the seat, until you start hitting stuff thats actually welded to the car.

It's a drop in add on. Junkyard is a great place to go for one.
Look at it for a bit. Suitable for gerbils and children under the age of 3. We've had them in all our Volvo wagons, and have never used a single one.
Don't forget the seatbelts.
