I got into graduate school (yay!) and have to do a week of intensives on campus in Alamoosa, Colorado in early June. I've spent a few hours more than once in the Denver airport, but that's my extent of my Colorado experience. Sooo, anybody near there? Anything to do?

Small town, not a whole lot around there.

I believe that the Sand Dunes national park is around that hood. Walking ( climbing?!) around there is an experience. After that we took a nice off road shortcut through the mountains in our rented "All wheel drive" minivan. Was a good day.

I think I only have time to fly in this year, but next year we want to drive over and family vacation on the way back to hit Arches and such. I'd like to find something to do while I'm out there this time though. Can I rent a V8 Miata from Keith???

From memory of camping trips to the sand dunes, Hwy 17 straight north from Alamoosa is incredibly long, straight, and flat with basically nothing on either side of the road.
If you needed to do any "testing".
