Mom is turning 70 this year. The past month or so she has been having ridiculous attacks, for lack of a better term, of arthritis. Joints swell up, hard to use them to do things, etc.

Anyway. I'm looking for a good electric can opener and some sort of wine bottle opener/storage solution that would work for arthritis hands/wrists.

She currently has an old fashioned manual can open and some sort of hand pumped vacuum resealer for wine bottles and they're just too hard for her to use most days.

I don't have any recommendations, though I can give your thread a bump.

I'm curious about what others recommend as my grandmother could also use some easy-to-operate kitchen tools.

We have a cabin that has a wall mounted hand cranked can opener called a "Swing-A-Way" that although 60 some years old, still works great (Made In USA). It is still made and we bought one for our house about 10 years ago. It is an exact copy but is now (Made In China). It never worked correctly, riding out of the can lid or not cutting the lid completely off. It is junk and we threw it away (probably still use the 60 year old tooling). The Amazon critical reviews confirm how bad it is. Do not buy her this one.
