Vancouver
Vancouver Island (Courtney and Prince Hardy)
I have heard they EH a lot up there.
Prince Rupert
Smithers
Prince George
Williams Lake
Whistler
Any HOT tips? SWMBO will be doing all the driving.
TransMaro lives in Langley, B.C.
I want to live in B.C. or Alberta in the worst way...
Its just like Washington, only norther.
Vancouver Island is awesome. Lots of nature to see, very laid back.
Victoria is cool. Lots of history, great places to eat.
Vancouver is kinda sad thanks to all of the overpriced condos that have ruined the views. Great park downtown and the mountains are great to hike/bike. North Vancouver is a little better.
Ferries to Vancouver Island are actually cheaper from the US than Vancouver. Float planes are available if you rent/bus it on the island.

Every time I hear the name, I've always imagined it as Hispanics running cocaine, but speaking with British accents.
Hispanics running cocaine? Man. I must be hanging out with the entirely wrong crowd.
Been in BC my entire life, lived everywhere from the island, border of Alaska, and in between. I can't imagine living anywhere else, it's beautiful.
The island folk think they are the only part of BC that counts.
The Vancouver people think only they exist, and that the weather/climate/vegitation/etc of the entire rest of the province is just like theirs.
BC is very, very, diverse, from Mediterranean to Rain Forest to Tundra to Desert.
I love the very remote, northern communities. I would rather slit both my wrists with running, flaming chainsaws than move back to Vancouver.
I live in the Okanagan Valley.
Once you get past Victoria and to a lesser extent, the rest of Vancouver Island, I wouldn't expect too much stuff geared to tourists, as the towns and cities are small and far apart and quite blue collar. I've got an aunt and uncle in Smithers, but have only been there a few times that I can remember. I lived one summer 2 hours north of PG 9 years ago and growing up, my parents had a cabin just outside Clinton (south of Williams Lake). It doesn't get that hot up there, but the days are longer due to being further north. Lots of nature stuff, good fishing in lots of lakes, but they'll usually be on the colder side for swimming, guest ranches to go riding, hiking trails and such.

Now I picture Sofia Vergara saying it like that...
"British Coal um bia"
Mmmmm....
Living in Alberta pretty well all my life, I've been to BC tons of times. Beautiful scenery and lots of stuff to see and do, only thing, lots of places roll up the streets really freaking early, like 9-10pm and closed. Very annoying.

And proud of it. Happily keeping Canadas lazier provinces afloat for the last few decades

Why do I have the urge to give you an atomic wedgie every time I see a post from you?
Butchart (aristocrats pronounce it butt shart) gardens is nice if you’re into flowers and E36 M3.
Joking aside, it's pretty good.

What's an atomic wedgie gramps?
I parked like this in my diesel pickup yesterday without even noticing, you can take the boy out of Red Deer, but you can't take the Red Deer out of the boy (note smashed side-window for extra redneck points!):
I don't think anyone minds being called a redneck Albertan, it certainly doesn't hurt my feelings (as this thread demonstrates with everyone getting their panties in a bunch) Of course, that's the best insult a 2nd rate hippy from Portland could come up with
Enjoy having your new government spend it's way to prosperity.
Every province should vote NDP.. Once..
BC is Canada's California
I worked there one summer. Say hi to the trees around Prince George for me. Mountains and forests, not much else to say.
Now you also know that there's lots of regional diversity/rivalry in Canada - kind of like Washington west and east of the Cascades.
If you want to head north from Whistler, take the Duffy Lake road (Hwy 99) to Lillooet. Spectacular scenery, fun road.
hash and head shops, JDM cars and striking municipal workers.
Don't get me wrong, I really do like BC, just not the people that are in it If you are going to Vancouver Island, I'd personally spend most my time there. Take some time to explore Vancouver if you can, but I wouldn't get hung up on spending much time there. The island is beautiful, and with the price and time you'll spend getting there, you might as well make the most of it.
BC is an acronym for Bring Cash.....everything is very expensive.

Kinda like Silicon Valley in that millionaires are still homeless. Proper way to pronounce Vancouver is with a W at the front.
A very laid back place that puts a lot of effort into being laid back. The good news is that there are no lack of hipster breweries, so its all good.

Yup, we're all a bunch of tree-hugging hippies down here. Thankfully, diots like Glenn Beck have made sure to tell you and others like you so you can avoid the area:

Anyway, back BC: Vancouver isnt bad, but expensive. Richmond on the other hand, you need a translater and/or guide there.
Vancouver Island has some great public parks and a few neat towns and resorts to check out.
They have white bears that are not found anywhere else.
