I have a couple of in-wall mount boxes, in my Rabbit... Stack-On, IIRC.
Most are not real safes, more like tool box construction. Something more obvious but bolted down can be safer.
Years back, when living near beaches, it was not uncommon for people to use a metal detector to look hidden boxes, but I have never heard of that elsewhere.

Not to go too much into detail, but a false wall in the back of a closet with a rack and shelves behind it is a pretty easy project. Leave an opening with a seemingly built in shelving unit in front of it hinged on one side with a hidden latch on the other. It won't stand up to a long search but will to someone hurriedly dumping drawers and dragging stuff out of shelves as most burglars do. Also not great for child proofing.

Magnetic catches, spring loaded catches, don't show hinges.
One of the joys of moving south, house had a hidden gun safe when I moved in. It just looks like a storage door in the mud room with all the coats and stuff but it has a magnetic lock and wont open. Most people just assume its a false door to act as filler. I also have one in the center console of my truck.
