This is really the only time I've had an issue with the HOA.  I would've liked at least another foot in height, that would've given me 6' floor to ceiling on the inside, and that would put the roof 1' over the fence line.  I'm annoyed by the fact I have to have this under the fence line but still use the same cement tile as my house.  I would've gained 5 more inches had I been allowed to use asphalt shingles and nobody will see the roof of it as it is!  I probably screwed myself by not asking for HOA approval from the outset (in fact the president of the hoa told me that), I may have been able to have gotten a shed 7' high approved at that point...

It's really hard to get away from HOA's here in the Denver suburbs, almost every single neighborhood has them.  The rules do vary of course, but yeah, our next house I want to have enough land to build a detached shop on.  As long as the covenants allow that, I don't care, but I won't buy in a neighborhood that won't allow me to do that...

Just got a few pictures of the finished shed.  It does look nice and he made the door as tall as it possibly can be.  I'll find out when I get home tonight how the motorcycle and everything fits inside of it...

Why the roof has to match AND be under the fence line is insanity. Would have looked fine to do a single slope roof, even w fence line at the left sloping toward the house on right up to where you want the height.

Reminds me why I avoided HOA neighborhoods.

That would've gained me some height on the exterior walls but the overall height would've been the same unless I could've used asphalt shingles.  I'm pissed off at how this turned out but I have to take some of the blame.  I should've asked for approval from the very beginning.  I'm sure they wouldn't have approved the 8.5' shed I originally built but maybe they would've approved a 7' shed with asphalt shingles...

Was installing a taller fence not an option?

And now that you've conformed, be the worlds crankiest man about all the non-conforming sheds.  Just out of spite.

Nope, 6' fence is the tallest they'd allow.  I asked them about that, as my fence isn't in the greatest shape.  Either build a taller one, put lattice on the current fence, etc.  Total no go.   Oh, I plan to totally drop a dime on all the other sheds in the neighborhood that are above the fence line!

I did manage to get everything inside the shed and I didn't have to remove the windshield from the motorcycle to get it to fit.  It's a really tight fit, but it does fit. I had to turn down one mirror.   I loaded the lawnmower after the motorcycle and that was a problem this morning when I went to pull the bike out.

On the plus side, it's much easier to load/unload the bike because I don't need to use ramps anymore...
