I need 3 or 4 cameras and i have around $300 to play with.

What do i need to know and look for when buying one? Any recommendations?

I have a Samsung system that works very well. Mine came with 8 cameras so it was above your price range, but their stuff seems to work pretty well.

This is the 4 channel version of the one I have for $299

Cameras are nice, if you have a good setup with high resolution and low light capabilities so you can get something better than typical convenience store footage, but they aren't going to stop burglars - they just give you a picture of them walking out the door with your stuff.

You need to include door and window sensors, motion sensors, etc. so an alarm is generated when they break in. It should also be tied into smoke detectors, CO detectors, and (optional, depending on your circumstances) flood sensors and low heat alarm sensors.

You'll need to log in to post.
