This is good stuff, but I was wondering where one might find raw headliner board to custom make a new one?

You would be better off buying the headliner board from a pull a part or stealership.

I'm curious to know if there are any spray-on / roll-on solutions.

Well, it's a custom application that is being converted from a bow-style liner, so are you saying just cut it from a bigger version?

For different fabrics, try a fabric store! I went in with the thought of buying a few yards to recover a friends Ranger headliner, but when I spotted a Batman logo fleece throw I got it for about half of the cost of headliner. Plus the adhesive was cheaper than the auto parts store.

^ This. Joann's always has clearance and 40-50% off coupons (off regular price) You can also buy remnants and "last seasons" designs for cheap. Also Walmart.

Adhesive I had to get from LowesDepot, the craft stores have the weaker one that people say don't hold up.

For headliner backer from scratch, if you have a really custom or rare application that a jy replacement won't do, I've read of people laying fiberglass on the top side of the roof and that'll get them the contour/shape/size they need.
