I just snagged the rear bumper cover on my Fit on the garage door opening. The bumper bends back into place and there is no sheet metal damage, but the clip that holds the bumper cover on where it meets the quarter panel is destroyed.

So, what's the best way to keep this thing from flapping around on the interstate and doing more damage until I can fix it? My gut instinct is duct tape, but I don't want to totally ruin the paint. Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

Is it just loose on one of the sides?

I looked at my 2007 Fit and I see where a screw goes up from inside the back side of the bumper cover into the sheet metal of the quarter panel. If you only popped the screw loose, I'd try using a new one to reattach things. If the screw hole is ripped open, maybe you could drill a new one in the bumper cover and the sheet metal. Quicker fix? Try a zip tie through the screw hole in both parts and get it as tight as you possibly can.

Good luck!
