They just poured our new patio Friday. It's basic concrete, no dye or additives, with a broom finish.
what do I need to do to care for it? Sealer? Anything at all? slab is 44-6" thick, contractor tells me I can start putting the lawn furniture back tonight, but how long does it take to fully cure ?
this also means I'll be starting a build thread on my outdoor kitchen / smoke shack soon....
Little too cold at nights to spray water on it probably but for just walking on it your fine after 24-48 hours. I'd hold off doing anything heavy on it until after a month though.
Define heavy.
not planning anything other than some lightweight metal lawn furniture, a grill table, and a flat top griddle.
the outdoor kitchen area has 4 6x6 posts set through the slab. First part of that will be a roof build, so nothing on the slab anytime soon.
Driving over it, block fit pits, etc.

Usually you have to wait about 3 weeks to a month before sealing. Since its a patio you aren't thinking about driving a car on it so that isn't an issue. I would wait a couple days to put anything with sharp feet on it. Think about how many PSI of pressure you are applying if you weigh 200lbs and sit on a patio chair with feet that smaller than an inch square.
Putting furniture on it after work today will be 3 full days from the pour. My contractor suggested at least 2 days, so I think I'm good. Our chairs have round 1" pads on each foot, better than a point at least.
Yeah, info I read on sealer is at least 30 days, which puts us into December which is typically rainy here. I suspect if I seal it I'll wait till the spring. I'd also probably doe a penetrating sealer instead of an acrylic coating. I like the natural look of it, plus I wouldn't bet any coating will really hold up in direct Georgia afternoon sun for years.
Just poured new patio pad (50 feet x 14) + side of house + new grass for my rental purchase
poured it oct 14, renter moved in last night
am not doing any sealer
