I was given a NIB Devilbiss 306DS oxygen concentrator for which I have no use at all. I'd like to sell it and buy car parts and/or tools, but I don't know where I should list it, whether it's a prescription-required device, etc. So learn me, make me an offer I can't refuse, etc.

Are these things not something that are prescribed, like a CPAP machine?   That said, i see CPAP machines for sale on C-list and FB MP.

A quick look at ebay shows the 525 model selling from $400-$900, used.

I don't know much about 'em, but if it's the right type/size, I think some of the bicycle framebuilding folks use 'em instead of having to buy oxy tanks for brazing. Worth a google/ebay-peek etc?

I clicked to open this thread but not on the link.

W/in a few minutes I had a spam email for personal oxygen concentrators, never had that one before.

What a coincidence.

They are very expensive at times, and with COVID I imagine they are somewhat sought after.

Years ago my FIL was dying of lung failure and needed supplemental oxygen.  At first it was one concentrator.  Then he got a trach and added another.   Then a third to shower his face with another 5 l/min for a total of 25 liters per minute.

His room sounded like a truck stop parking lot.  It was ten degrees hotter than the rest of the house.  And my electric bill was $500 a month.

To summarize, they are loud, hot, and suck up a lot of energy.  But for someone who needs one, life saving.

I think you need an oxy-propane torch in your life.

I know how you feel. My last power bill was 1100 from having to use mine 24/7.

The unit in the OP is a great unit but only flows 3L. They can run up to 4K for a brand new one but people wont pay anywhere near that for a private sale. there is no prescription needed to buy one and there are much smaller ones on the market that flow more, are lighter and cheaper. A good used one goes for a fraction of the price.

See if you can get LOx aka Liquid Oxygen.

Since I live off grid I can't use a concentrator, so he got LOx. No electricity needed at all
