Okay, so I am in a position where renting an apartment or house is not a good choice as I may be leaving the country in a few weeks. Its still on the fence as to whether or not this is happening. While I wait to determine my fate, I sit here in a Studio 6 Motel(Motel 6's version of a extended stay). Any insight into other places? I have seen Extended Stay America but other than that I am ignorant. Anyone have suggestions of temporary living? I am paying roughly $225 a week and am fine up to about $250 a week. All of my junk is in storage so I am just living out of a couple a bags. Any suggestions?
Thats expensive, but its hard to land in a non-contractual situation for any less. Keep on holding on until you make your decision.
Yeah, seems kinda expensive but when you look into all inclusive cable, electrical, water, and internet, its not too bad. But I am just wondering if there are other options I am missing for short term tenant options that are less ghetto.

If you don't mind moving around a bit you can save a bundle using Priceline and possibly stay in nicer digs too. My brother in law is self employed and travels for a week at a time to the same couple places, and typically doesn't spend more than $100 per week for high quality hotels it just varies a bit which one he's at.
In that sort of situation I'd probably be looking to kick it at a friend's or relative's place in exchange for doing all of the menial tasks around the house.

Each major hotel company has an extended stay brand.
Hilton = Homewood Suites.
Intercontinental (Holiday Inn) = Staybridge Suites (higher end) and Candlewood Suites (lower end.)
I would shop them all in your area. Unfortunately, Priceline does not directly cover extended stay properties. I would directly work your area and be willing to give your longest possible stay terms for the lowest dollars. Giving a 2 week minimum commitment may get you better rates.
I used to stay in Staybridge Suites in years past and they were nice. They also served a breakfast and dinner included in the price. "Dinner" was an appetizer, chicken wing, hotdog sort of thing but the price was right.
aside from couch surfing with friends or relatives, that is about the best you'll do, unless there are resort condo's in your area. $225/week would still be tough to beat. I suppose you could rent an RV and hit campgrounds or wal mart.
I wonder if there aren't business opportunities for such accomdations. When was the last time you saw "modern" efficiencies without lease agreement?
There's a couch in Ohio with your name on it if you ever need to use it. (2 weeks is about the max I could put up with you though....

Also look at resort or vacation spots in the off season. I know, up here on Lake Erie you can get winter only, multi month rentals of furnished waterfront condos for cheap. The owners are just looking to add some income into the months that typically generate no income.
Isn't there a nice warm steam grate somewhere in town you can share with someone?![](/media/img/icons/smilies/evil-18.png)
Sadly, I think extended stay hotel or couch surfing is the only two options.
I wonder if there is someplace on Craigslist where you could post that you're looking to rent a room for $100 (or whatever) for a week. There has to be somebody out there with a spare bedroom that doesn't want a long term roommate but really needs a couple hundred dollars. Just thinking out loud.

Extended stay hotels are fine for a while. Some areas have what is called executive apartments. Usually studio or one-bedroom apartments rented for short term, like less than a month usually or less than lease period. Some realty companies have complete apartment buildings set up for this in areas where it can be profitable. Cheaper than extended stay hotels usually.

Look on craigslist for a boarding house type place. Also, lots of folks looking to rent out a room. Most of them will be okay with month-month.
Check normal hotels. IIRC, we pay about $160 for the week at the Motel 6 in Lincoln for Nationals. The weekly rate is cheaper than the normal rate.

I might just do that. Tuesday brings a very important interview with a state department investigator that will determine my employment future. So this may or may not be a short term term thing.
Right now I am staying at a Studio 6(motel 6's extended stay). Its a bit nicer than the Extended Stay America I took a look at today. I am in a debate with myself if I stay this route for another week or two. The place I am at now has a really nice room for the money and there is alot of stuff nearby but the traffic is E36 M3ty and the thug culture is rampant here. The other spot I looked at today is $4 cheaper, in a historic downtown district(which is cool), bigger room, and no traffic to work. But the room is E36 M3tier, the kitchen is smaller, the refrigerator in tiny, and the bathroom is smaller. Ugh.

You're not BUYING it, you're staying there for a couple weeks.
For the sake of $4.00, considering the area the your current digs are in, I'd move to the nice but smaller place.
