I did. Grabbed two ddr4 8gb, 3200 sticks. 25600

Oh, so you already got RAM, cool.

You didn't post up the case you've bought, so I went for a motherboard size called "Micro ATX" for parts here- the size of a case (and how it's built) makes a BIG difference as to what fits FYI, so consider this MoBo a placeholder in case you got a much bigger case.

1) Motherboard: ASRock B450M Pro 4. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/dQgzK8/asrock-b450m-pro4-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b450m-pro4

~83.99

Micro ATX board that's great for midrange builds and should support most of what you could want to do with it. Has no built in RGB but does have plugs for it. Supports a CPU fan, 3 case fans, and can expand it's peripherals to run 2 more USB 2.0 AND 3.0 ports on top of what it's got. Also has plenty of expansion slots if you want to add more in the future- that little PCI 2.0x1 slot on top could easily take a wifi module or bridge for more USB 3.0 for instance. Finally, and most important- it has twin m.2 ports. M.2 is LEAGUES faster than anything until now to the point where the cost is definitely worth it, and we are going to take advantage of that for the future. Any game on your M.2 will load quicker (almost instant) and you would take a preformance hit if you didn't use it.

Here's the link on NewEgg, its out of stock currently: https://www.newegg.com/asrock-b450m-pro4/p/N82E16813157843?Description=B450&cm_re=B450-_-13-157-843-_-Product

2) Hard Drive- M.2 Crucial 1TB NVME Solid State - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/pxKcCJ/crucial-p1-1tb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-ct1000p1ssd8

~109.00 at time of writing.

This is an upper range solid-state drive that even uses DDR3 RAM as a buffer; if you think you'll want the absolute best, look for the Samsung 970 series. Otherwise? For 99% of the population this will be more than enough. Toss you're games and OS on it, and forget about load times. B&H Photo seems to have prices close to $100 for one, which is great and they have deals all the time.

3) Thermal paste, Arctic Silver 5 : https://www.newegg.com/arctic-silver-as5-3-5g/p/N82E16835100007?Description=Thermal%20paste&cm_re=Thermal_paste-_-35-100-007-_-Product&quicklink=true

~$6.00

This material is used between your CPU Cooler and the CPU itself to adhere the two and transfer heat better. Will have to be spread on with a plastic blade into a very thin film, so look for an old credit card or something similar. One tube will last you 5-7 builds easy. My tube of this stuff is over 8 years old.

For the last bit, we will need to see your new case to gauge the size of fans and power supply we can shove into it, and see if you want more things like a second hard drive or the like. So you know, I would advocate for using a properly sized power supply to this machine with this Ryzen 3 and Nvidia 1050 instead of making it oversized for a future build, simply because we don't know what the future build will be and it'll waste power and money in getting something big like a 750watt. So get that name and pic of the case posted.

AMD announced the 3300x today, which looks like it will be the new budget build king.  Keep an eye on it for when you want to ditch the 1200.

FYI, if you're looking for a video card upgrade, I have some GTX 1060 cards with 6GB of RAM.  Just stuck one in a computer I threw together and the Passmark 2D is 678.9 and 3D is 9323, for comparison.

I have always.. from the getgo, like since 1990, assembled my own pc's from bits and chunks, cuz cheapskate.. The last one still works just fine (ye gods a 14 yr old homebuilt but heck my xp machine still works), but I put it together when win7 came out.... oh. Time to upgrade. Trouble is, by the time I added everything up, the cost was outrageous. Good video cards have been swallowed up by the crypto miners. 500 buck card, if you can find  it now, is 1100? No thanks. So for the first time ever, I bought an off the shelf PC.  I held my nose, went to Dell, and bought an alienware r11.

It works really, *really* well. Total overkill. Might compare its spec with what you can do on part picker, just sayin

Oh and m.2 ssd is the only option. I threw a 6tb std drive in it for archive and docs and such, till I get serious and buy a twin of it and throw them both in a Ubiquity box and be done with it...
