Post tensioned slab on grade is not uncommon, but it's a regional (soil specific) thing. It's done in TX, for example. I don't know what part of NV.. nor much about the soils.. But not ready to dismiss this as unnecessary.
Consider a loft, or storage trusses if you go wood frame. Consider a hoist beam. Consider insulated garage doors. Consider a door to the loft from outside, and a pick point to attach a chain fall or pulley and rope.
My idea of a cool shop door is a big sliding "barn" door with a man door in the sliding door. That requires a step-over but it's part of the dream, so no big deal.
If I was in snow country, would also build a catch basin outside the door, with grating to stomp off my boots.
And why not make the garage deep enough for your truck and a car parked parallel against the front wall.
