Anybody have experience going? Trying to figure out parking and the best day to go sat or sun?

I have no useful knowledge to add, but thanks for asking the question. I didn't even know this 10! day event was going on a few hours from my house. Interested to know more. Which is the prime weekend to attend?

The website has tons of info. I've not been to the first weekend at Pittsburgh Int'l Race Complex, but have been to Schenley Park several times. I'm local, just north of the city. I park in Oakland, either on the street or at Soldiers and Sailors, and walk over the bridge to the park. There are shuttles that get you to the top of the hill and back down, fairly conveniently if you don't want to walk it. I think I've ended up going just on Saturdays because I had conflicts for the Sunday race day. It is definitely worth seeing.

Have always wanted to go. One day I'll run out of excuses.

Haven't been to the Schenley Park race in years but when I did I enjoyed the paddock most of all. Seeing the cars up close and talking w/ the owners, drivers and crew made it for me. I'm not much of a spectator I guess.

I like the PittRace events better. This year 7/11-13, one weekend before Schenley. Smaller crowd, a little more informal and again hangin' out in the paddock. That's just my style.

I first attended events in the early '90's when I lived and worked in Pittsburgh and loved them. I took the family back last year and made a long weekend trip with the race as a part of that event. My two boys, now 4 and 6, enjoyed some car stuff but had a lot more fun riding the inclines and DUKW boats downtown, swimming in the hotel pool, and going to the Pittsburgh Zoo. They still talk about the trip.

There is no bad day to attend. I've always tried to make at least one day at Pittrace and one day at Schenley but its worth making as many days as possible since not all cars are there both days.

I normally park on the grass after you cross the bridge from Oakland into the park. Its a short walk to the racing/car show.

I am going to go on Sunday, I live 2 1/2 hours away. I have heard great things about the race, so I am excited.

I went on Sunday it was worth it, I found parking on the street, so all I paid for was gas. They had a bunch of cool vehicles, the racing was pretty entertaining and I pretty much walked all around the entire course. There were some decent drivers running, but overall it is about the cars still being driven. I would highly recommend going, even if you are out of town.

Glad to see you made it and were able to get around and see the course. I had to take my boys (6 and 2) to a birthday party about 10 blocks away from the upper entrance, so I decided to use the drive in for the 2 year old's nap, get to Squirrel Hill early, and catch a bit of the racing. We got a quick walk through the British car show area, a race and a half and a quick picnic lunch before having to leave for the party. Still worth it.

Next year I need to spend the whole day at the race. I could see a bunch of cars at the show off in the distance I wanted to see that I just didn't have time to get over to.
