I had to fix my Leatherman case with Duct Tape today. I fell like I just cross the streams. Should I worry? Are things going to spin out of control? If I add Crazy Glue will it explode?

I prefer Gerber over leatherman... but no, you are fine. that is a perfectly acceptable repair method.. if not the prefered way to repair the case
Actually, I need to replace my pocket knife that I lost last month. I had the last one for 8-10 years, carrying it daily for the past few. What are the preferred brands? I really just need a big blade, small blade, and bottle opener.
When I was young, the piece to carry was a Boy Scout knife or a Swiss Army knife. The Leatherman design pretty much knocked them out of the ring. The Gerber version is very high quality, as are all their knives.
As for which pocket knife you should get, I'm sorta partial to Schrade Old Timers. If you like a stainless blade, a very obscure brand is Queen; very hard to find, but maybe the most well machined/ finished knife on the market. Lotsa folks swear on the Buck knife, and for good reason.
Just don't settle for one that says "Pakistan" or "China" on the blade.
Go to a gun show, or the like, find the guy that makes his own blades, and carry a useful work of art for fairly cheap.

My favorite Swiss Army type pocket knife - as opposed to a Leatherman style multi-tool - with those features is the VICTORINOX TINKER, which also has a Phillips screwdriver in place of the typical corkscrew. Easy on the pocket, and useful.
I really dislike the big thick Swiss Army knives.
The original Leatherman is good, but not a great pocket knife.
The Gerber Multiplier is a better tool but heavier and bulkier than the regular Leatherman.
I carry one of these:
Small enough to fit in the watch pocket of your jeans without noticing it's there and the replaceable blades means you never worry about being abusive. I've got a classic Leatherman, a proper Swiss Army knife and a few other folding ones, but this little guy has won over all of them because it's just so easy to carry. All I ever really seem to need is something that will cut.
Now if I can just stop drooling over the Skeletool CX...
Upon a time I carried 3. A Gerber, a cheap Victorinox knock-off, and a single blade folding knife. Some said it was overkill, but each had it's own best use and I used each of the three almost every day.
I loooovvveeee my Skeletool CX. I've been carrying it daily for about a year, and use it every day. Not having to open it to get to the knife is invaluable. And the bit driver thing with the bit in the handle is the best folding screwdriver I've ever used. I like this way better than my SuperTool.

That one looks cool, but I use the pliers about ten times as much as I use the knife. Being able to open them(the pliers) with the flick of the wrist is worth having to dig for the knife. I do like the looks of the clip and the screw driver tip though. I guess they are like most tools, you can't have too many.
I use the pliers a lot too.. and yes, I LOVE the flick of the wrist to slide them out and lock them into place.
My father had one of the rivets fail on a Leatherman case once. He mailed it back to them and they sent him a new one, complete with a new tool as well.
I've owned Gerbers and many Leathermen, but a Classic Leatherman is on my hip everyday at the firehouse. I use it daily on all kinds of emergency calls.
This is a really nice everyday blade. My kids bought it for me for father's day to replace the older one I broke recently. Light and compact enough to carry everywhere.
It won't fit in your pocket, but it will open bottles - and a lot more: Annihilator
I had an mp600 and a small cutco that was just a 3 inch knife until someone liberated my bag from the gym. I had the cutco since high school and it was still in good shape, and the mp600 also saw daily use.
