Just that, cool day.
Amazing day for all!!!
This picture is from the day I walked into a building with a brand new, empty car seat and came out with it full.
Know what is available to you for maternity/paternity leave.
We came close to adopting a 5 yr old. Even at 5 years old, had that happened, my wife, a public school teacher, would have gotten a full maternity leave. That is some critical bonding time.
I was self employed.
As it did happen, we adopted a 7 week old. We found out on a Tuesday from the agency that there was a baby available and we could meet the baby on a Thursday night. That positive meeting triggered a Friday and Sunday meeting. Come Tues we got the word it was a sure thing and the baby would come home with us on Thursday. That next morning (Weds) my wife went into school and said, "I won't be here tomorrow...or for the next 8 weeks...maternity leave."

I had a customer that had no children and was in his late 30's and got together with his family on Thanksgiving. No idea that a week later his adoption came available.
When his family got together for Christmas a few were blown away as some hadn't heard the news - when did this happen?
Please excuse my horrible sense of humor...
What happened to the foster kids you dropped off?
Just kidding!
That's awesome! Exciting times and relief and all sorts of emotions, I'm sure!

Almost 4 and almost 17, brothers. They have been with us for two years.

Well the lease was up, you see, and the dealer had some pretty good incentive programs going...

Every adoption has its own story. Here's to hoping this is the happy ending to your story.
...and, they lived happily ever after.

Wow, you got a new model!
That's great! My adopted son is 24 now. It takes some extra chutzpah to take on kids who aren't newborn. I salute and thank you.
Congratulations on your new family members, you've done a great thing. In our state, when I adopted my wife's two boys and they were getting new birth certificates, besides getting my last name, they had the choice to pick any first and middle names they wanted. I was pushing for James Tiberius and Spock, but they kept their first and middle names and chose parts of my first and middle name for their second middle names instead.

Thank you for adopting your wife's kids. My dad's stepdad never did that. His mom died first and everything became stepdad's. When stepdad died, my dad and uncle found out the hard way that they weren't legally their stepdad's kids, and everything in the will discussing "children" had nothing to do with them.
