The setup: You are tasked to construct the criteria for the most complete and still concise daily newscast for yourself. It contains your 24 hour update since the last notification on what specific subjects?
Example:
1. Today's weather in my city.
2. What change in the price of gold and oil.
3. Any new laws/policies enacted in my state.
4. Any new laws/policies enacted in Congress.
Etc.
I'm curious to see what The Hive regards as essential daily information.
Local weather
Local events. BEFORE THEY berkeleyING HAPPEN unlike my local newspaper that doesn't tell me until after.
Latest excuses not to release and investigate the Epstein Maxwell client list, and the names of the people actively blocking it.
Obituaries.
Latest updates from the "science fiction wings" of the universities. physics departments, molecular biology departments, quantum computing, quantum chemistry, astrophysics, etc. And I want everything, from grant applications to pre published papers.
Local police blotter to see who's getting caught and released this week.
Which of my cats are inside or outside.
Oh I thought this was going to be a thread where we link news articles. I was going to volunteer for the weird E36 M3 news.
In reply to Stampie :
Okay, I need Stampie's weird news in my feed.
1 - Weather
2 - Average price of a gallon of gas in my area and how it changed from the previous week
3 - Traffic/road closures in my town/county
4 - Very high level MLB / NCAA Football news

Are we being honest here?
1. Local weather
2. What's on my calendar for today
3. Local traffic
I can't affect any damn thing in the world except how warmly I dress, where I need to go, and whether I'm using I-95 or some other route to get there.
So at this point I don't give a flying berk about what else is going on. I can't do anything about all the idiots wreaking havoc everywhere. If it's bad enough I'll find out when it impacts me.
I get everything I need from my Google Assistant "good morning" routine. The news is irrelevant.

Breaking news:
Mac came in, Ziggy went out, Shadow remains on the couch judging everyone... unfavorably.
Ok here's a test link. Not to weird. It's political but the weird thing can be discussed/viewed without politics being an issue.

Bonus points to the first person to figure out where I got the link.

An update just in: The water bowl with a level of 3/4 is considered dangerously empty. Film at eleven!

So, we are teaching AI how to lie in a customized fashion?
In reply to triumph7 :
Think about the uses. Find a extremist on either side. Use AI to rile them up even more. Sometimes it's not convincing people to vote for you but convincing people to turn out to vote or to not turn out to vote.
Man this thread really drives home for me what a great news aggregator pre-Elon Twitter was (or, at least it was for how I had my feed curated). terrible place for actual info, but a great place to "take the temperature of the room" and find out what relevant news items were in the collective consciousness that i could then go follow up on at actual news outlets.
Now it's... something different entirely.
But, yeah, a very high level news aggregator that was predicate more on public inquiry trends than news editor decisions would be a cool place to start.

Yes. A lot of people think news is relevant.

For forty years I've been considered a nut for saying that, even on here. I can tell you, during my entire life there has been something going on in the middle east. I have no idea what it is and I don't care to find out. Frankly, it's none of my business.

I more meant that to ask whether I should tell my truth or pretend I was deeply involved in current events.
Skip the weather. I can't change it. Temps and rain are mostly irrelevant to my daily activity so it isn't going to change me. I dress the same every day beyond grabbing a jacket on the way out the door if it's November-Feburary.
As for news, I read The 1440 every morning to get a news overview and see what the major market indices did the day before. That happens as soon as I'm awake and can focus on the written word.
As soon as I sit down at my desk I check the company calendar and my email.
Then I check in here.
That's my daily news.
I still get the local daily newspaper and I read the whole thing - headlines, national and world news, editorial section, local news, business section, and variety/entertainment (can't skip the comics.) I do gloss over the sports section since I have minimal interest in ball and stick sports.
I'm pretty sure the past was way stinkier than this article makes it out to be.

We are following a developing story! This morning Shadow went outside and was observed pouncing in the neighbor's front yard. After a number of pounces, she clearly delivered something to their front door. It is widely speculated that this delivery is a murder present, though the assailants intent is unknown. Theories range from "I protected you from an intruder" to the humans to "WTF get it together" to their cat. We'll follow up with a report from the field after the front door opens.
