I need to recover the seats on my TL1000 (separate rider/passenger seats) and I'm thinking about repurposing a torn up old leather jacket for it. But the only time I've recovered a seat was with a cover I had sewn from pattern made from the old cover, so all I had to do was slap it on and staple it.

Now, the good news is that the original cover only has one seam along the front edge where the 'wings' of the seat wrap around the tank, and I think I may be able to get away without it. That would be easier if there was a way to make the leather more flexible.

So, how does one work with already dyed leather to make it more flexible, at least temporarily? Heat? Moisture? Or just elbow grease and liberal stapling?

And consider this Easy Mode, because I have some slightly more advanced upholstery in mind for the next project...

Not that I don't love GRM, but might I suggest a journey over to the ADV Rider boards. Some helpful dudes over there.

Not a bad idea. Haven't been over there in a while.
